Quote from SamH :However, I've seen a few times that someone has joined the grid, and then removed a bunch of other drivers just to force the race to start.

How is it possible to "remove" drivers from the grid? Don't you have to be an admin to be able to do that?

Anyone can do it, just click the '-' next to their name on the grid.

It's most annoying, good to hear from SamH that anyone doing it can be caught and banned.
its not just that someone can remove any other racer from the grid,
he can change the positions, too.

means you enter 15th and then click on the pole-driver and
then miraculously you are in the first spot and the other one
is placed 15h.

and to be honest, i´ve no idea how this should be punished,
because afaik just the races are replay-saved.

It would be even more annoying to be unable to remove from the grid someone who'd be AFK (or asleep) and preventing the race to start by not clicking on Ready.

BTW, it reminds me of a problem I've seen the last time I was on B&J: when the track changed, a couple of guys clicked Join and Ready before everyone else, and the race started. They voted to restart, but it was too early and the system didn't allow it. After a moment they pitted (or where spectacted for crashing and going the wrong way), and then we were all stuck in spectate mode with nobody on track. We decided that everybody had to leave the server and come back, to force the race to end, but after several tries we found that one of us was AFK (or asleep) and didn't leave. And so we were stuck.

I don't know how it ended, because I left when I realized that we were stuck until he came back or was finally kicked by X-System, but I guess everybody just ended up doing the same. Maybe in the next version, X-System could work around this situation by prompting people who've been in spectate mode for some time with a dialog, and kicking those who don't answer this dialog, or something?

Sounds like a good idea to me!

This was planned for Phase 1, but we ran out of time. It's in Phase 2

Has there been ANYTHING that wasn't thought of? =P

It's already in but I had to extend the warning timer to just under 50 minutes and the boot drops at 60 - or something like that anyway. The original timings caused problems.

I shouldn't have given the impression that I can catch them. I meant only that I want to be able to. If the event isn't captured in the server logs (I've been too busy, recently, to go and check) then I'll be making an improvement suggestion/request for it to be included.
