Option 2 with the 8800GTS. You would probably get that with the money you save not buying Vista.
The shops prices are clearly too high and i would suggest u do look for another shop.
For example, if u shop with www.komplett.nl (decent one i chose out of tweakers.net buyersguide) u could have it shipped to your door and still have a better pc for that price

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Neder OEM DVD 32bit
€ 88,00 (home premium NL for € 108,00,but u wont use the extra functions imo)

Gigabyte GZ-X1 Zwart, 4X 5,25", 2X 3,5", 6,8 KG (zonder voeding)
€ 41,00

Tagan 2force 480W, Dual Fan, 4xSATA, ATX/EPS, SLI, 20/24pin
€ 84,00

EVGA nForce-650i Ultra, Socket-775, GbLAN, DDR2, SATAII, ATX, PCI-Ex16
€ 89,00

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz 1333Mhz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED m/koeler
€ 149,95 (set the FSB to 1600MHz and u have rocksolid 2.8ghz)

OCZ Platinum DDR2 PC6400 2048MB KIT, w/two 1024MB PC6400 XTC, CL4-5-4-15
€ 85,00 (lifetime warrantee)

Sapphire X1950pro 256mb GDDR3 2x DVI
125€ (Gainward GeForce 8600GTS 256MB for € 164,01)

NEC DVD±RW brander AD-5170 IDE Zwart OEM, DVD+R/+RW/DVD-R/-RW (Dual layer)
€ 28,50

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
€ 58,50 (performs better and 5years warrantee compared to maxtors 3)

total : 748.95€

add shipping to that (7.50 prepaid or 13.5 rembours) and u have it shipped to u for 756.45€

Though if u insist on buying from your local shop, go with a E6550 for 159.90€ and a MSI RX1950PRO 256MB for 137,90€ ..dump the cardreader (or ask a discount on something u want/need if he insists it's free)
I voted for spec2.

I use a AMD 5000+ with 2gigs and a 1950 Pro. Rocks imo, more then 200 fps in lfs and 60 in tdu is enough for me right now. This is also my first system that is able to run Simcity 4. Personally I don´t mind if AMD or Intel is faster. I only had one Intel system (P90) with a lot of trouble and I think AMD is "cooler"

I payed around 900 Euro for

- Shuttle XPC Barebone (black)
- AMD 5000+
- 2x1 gb corsair RAM
- 1950 Pro 256mb
- 2x74gb Raptor S-ATA (raid0)

For the price you spent on RAID0'ed Raptors, a set of RAID0'ed Seagate Barracuda's could be almost as fast with a LOT more space, for less cash, and with the price of Intel Quad Cores i think you could haggle one in there.
It´s just a gadget because I wanted to have 10.000 rpm harddiscs

I´m coming from the good old Atari 2600 / C64 age. So I don´t care about 50 Euro more or less and I don´t need more storage on hd.
So do you think that a bigger HDD and a faster processor is better than having a very good gfx-card and a smaller HDD and a slower processor?
#33 - Jakg
The HDD size is all about personal preference - i've only just gone over 160 GB of crap, some guys need 1 TB for all their pr0n

Personally i'd get the faster CPU AND the faster GFX card and a smaller HDD.

(Well, personally i'd get an uber-cheap CPU AND a 1337 OC'ing board and clock the feck outta it, but that's just me, "t3h overclock whore")
I'm sure I'll need the 250GB, I've got quite a large music collection and plenty of games that need space. Don't need the cardreader either, I've got plenty of USB-ports already and I'll use the USB cable for my camera. Saves me another €10,90 iirc. Because I won't have to order an OS and a card reader I'll save around €120.

edit: So, how about this?

Quote from System 4 :

MS Windows XP Home (got that already at home)
Codegen M603-CA 450W black-silver
Sony/NEC AD7173 18x DVD +/- writer zw
2048MB DDRII/800
Asus M2V S/R/GBL AM2
Asus EN8800GTS/HTDP 320MB
AM2 AMD Athl64 X2 4400 2.3GHz EE
250GB 7200 Maxtor STM3250310AS 8MB

I'll buy a 19" monitor from the money I don't have to spend on the card reader and OS. Well, that money and a bit more. Buying the 6000 would cost me €60 more.
Bump!
What's the bump for? Yes, the option 4 is very good, if that's what you were asking.
only the CPU..
Thanks, Blackout

Takumi, what's wrong with the cpu? Isn't it fast enough?

If I'd want a better processor it'd cost me this much more

Quote :AM2 AMD Athl64 X2 4600 2.4GHz - € 13,00 (total € 684,00)
AM2 AMD Athl64 X2 5000 2.6GHz - € 28,00 (total € 699,00)

AM2 AMD Athl64 X2 6000 3.0GHz - € 82,00 (total € 753,00)

Would that be worth the money, as a long-term investment?
It's good. But not that Perfect for the new games.
You could better pick up the 5000+.
I see. I could OC the 5000+ .

With a decent mobo you could OC any CPU. TBH i'm less than impressed with the overclocking of the AM2 90 nm X2's - they do nothing that the 939's didn't

...or you could pick up the better CPU's from Intel.
What mobo would you suggest from that pricelist, with the matching processor?
Quote from Jakg :"Intel sux". Now THERES an opinion well supported by facts!

My first CPU was an AMD, but i'm a fanboy purely to performance - if i can build a QUAD CORE for the price of a high end dual from AMD, i'd be an idiot not to!

And you read wrong, the "best" modern CPU from AMD to overclock would either be the Opteron 165 (1.8 GHz -> 3-3.1 GHz) or the AMD 3700 (a nice stepping like mine, 2.2 GHz -> 3.07 GHz, some even hit 3.1 GHz

EDIT - £142 for a E6600?! Obviously they've never heard of the JULY 22nd Price Cuts in the Netherlands, i thought the UK was bad! The prices SHOULD go down

I'm of the opinion that if people don't do the research and just blindly buy based on the brand name, that's their business and their money. Afterall, AMD needs all the help it can get right now.

I'm of the opinion that any cash you spend on a PC part will probably leave you satisfied, but if someone is sitting here wanting to buy a faster PC then chances are they will be open to a suggestion for more performance for the same price. There are some idiotic fanboys in the PC World (and IN PC World :P), far worse than Takumi, including someone who thought his 1.8 GHz Sempron out performed an Intel Quad Core because it was 2000 MHz HTT vs the 1066 MHz FSB of the Intel, but at least i can say i tried.

I'm a idiotic fanboy? :noob:
According to this, yes.
Quote from Takumi_lfs :go away intel sux

I even dont care if Intel has an cpu that do 1 sec in superpi.
My first Cpu was an AMD and the last will be an AMD.

You wanted something for your budget and I thought that AMD cpu's were a great deal..

but you know.. i dont care if you buy a Intel or AMD cpu.. its your money and your PC. I have nothing against it.

Do you have any sort of reasoning behind your argument? No? Then your idiotic.

Do you stick loyally to one brand for no aparent logical reason and refuse to admit that anything could be better? Yes? Then your a fanboy.

/me rests case.
