Different controls for different cars
OK, heres the idea: Say, for the Formula cars i want to preset my shifters to the paddles, but when im in a road car i want to use my shifter, for the sake of realisms. So, why not have different controls for different cars that automatically load when we get in that car, so we dont have to go into options and change the buttons around.

Yeah I've thought of the same thing on occasion as I'm the same, paddles with formulas and shifter in all others. I spose a quick fix could be to allow two values to be asigned to some values.

i would like paddles in the GTRs, too (maybe the MRT/RA <- i think this one has sequential gearbox, or only the 05 model?)
but definitaly a good idea
GTRs would have a stick sequential, at least they mostly do.
The GTRs in LFS have the stick in the model even
I would really like to see this option as well. When the new logitech wheel comes out with an H-shifter AND sequential shifter AND paddles, I'll want to configure each car to use a different configuration. Not to mention that it would be nice to turn the wheel on for the BF1, but off for the other cars. Ditto for custom views. Some people might want to use a custom view for certain cars, but in-car for others.
Yep, will be handy indeed. +pi

It's a bike box so it will have to have a sequential shift.
+1, I made a simmilar suggestion too.
Would indeed be nice to have the option to configure different "controller profiles" for each type of car (but only if the user wishes to, otherwise have them all share a global profile). It would increase the realism slightly to force use of a certain shifting method, e.g. sequential in MRT5, but I would suspect many people wouldn't like it.

I'm currently using the Logitech Profiler to switch between cars.
The singleseaters have a profile, the the roadcars (STD-LRF) have a profile and the GTR cars have a profile. That way the only thing I need to switch is the profile in the Profiler and (if necessary) the type of shifter in LFS.
I did that the following way:
Every function in LFS is mapped to some button. View left: k, right: l, limiter: o, etc. Then I use the profiler to map the wheelbuttons I want to the keystrokes that LFS expects. In the roadcars the paddles view left and right (buttons k & l), in the singleseaters and GTRs they change the gear (buttons x and y). That way I only have to switch between sequential and H-shifter in LFS.
That is a worthwhile fix until LFS knows profiles itself.

But that requires alt+tabbing between LFS and the profiler every time you switch car types. Not a big deal if you're in a league where you use the same car often, but for pick-up races where the tracks and cars rotate often, it would be a pain.

Dude it takes all of 2 seconds to alt tab, select profile and alt tab back in

But having an ingame function would make life so much easier if this matterd... i cant say i'd use the function my self as i use paddles for gear changes, shifter back for hand brake and shifter forward for switching T/C on and off but its a good idea
Not just controllers but other settings too.

With the MRT last night for example, I had to stop and turn on the virtual mirror, the little mirrors weren't doing it for me. But then I jump into a road car and now I have two rear view mirrors.

Also, I like to open up the FOV a bit with the BF1, so I can see the mirrors. But with the FOX, it feels too stretched out.

Also, in the cars where there's info on the wheel, I want the wheel on. In all other cars I want it off. It just gets in the way of the gauges and I already have a wheel and arms infront of me anyway.

It seems like everytime I switch cars, there's a few settings to change, and then I forget something so I have to go back in...

It'd be great if FOV, Virtual mirror, Wheel and arms, Controller settings, were tied to the car somehow.

The problem with that is that I like to use the paddles for look left/right. I don't want to give up that functionality on all cars unless I really, really have to.

Time to buy TrackIR, maybe?
