Hi,

I've been having alot of problems with this new computer. Using XP Pro Service Pack 2, if your wondering. Firstly, RAM died, got some new stuff. TEAM 1GB, seems good. Last night, while taking to UKCT Dan, I got the deadly blue screen of Death. Restarted, all fine. This morning, my graphics started to artifact REALLY bad all of a sudden, restarted and it was fine. Thought nothing of it. Tonight, on two occasion's my computer has just frozen up, (if I had music/sound on the sound would skip really fast) and then the screen goes black and my monitor can't get a signal. Its all becoming a bit of a problem really, considering I don't know when I can start some work, without risk of it being lost.

Anyone know what it could be? I've not touched anything like the bios..etc.
Check to make sure all your fans are working good. Sounds like errors from overheating. Could be your PSU crapping out...could be lots of things. More then anything it sounds like its GPU related, check it. Does it look okay? Is it plugged in all the way? Does the heatsink work properly? Fire up ATi Tool and check out your gaming temperatures. Check back here.

Artefacts? If it's not overheating on the core, it could be the memory, i chuck an 80 mm case fan underneath mine because the memory seems to artefact.

What's the airflow like in your case?

I can't seem to find the temperature monitor inside the Catalyst control center. But, if I hover my mouse over the icon it says "1280x1024 (0 degrees)" In place of "degrees" its the little zero sign, but I can't find that without looking on character map. This mean anything?

Its pretty good, there's 2 huge fans at either end of it (my other case only had one small one).

It it worth running the fans at full speed with something like Speedfan?

OT - to get a degrees sign (°) hit "ALT" and then type "0176"
Which way are the fans flowing, you should have one in the front pulling air in, the other pushing it out the back, check the heatsink on the CPU, make sure its seated properly with some thermal paste (Artic Silver FTW!)

Just use Everest for temps etc. good program!

Everest is a bit heavy to be runnin 24/7 though, whereas something like SpeedFan isn't

ATI tool will help you
check for artifacts
