Dying for some new and realistic tracks...
Hello guys,

In this thread i would like to see how other drivers look @ LFS and its tracks.

For some time now ive been thinking about the tracks in LFS, tbh im getting more and more annoyed with LFS, its not the game, but it are the tracks, and rather the lack of new tracks, imo LFS needs a serious track injection, we need new and realistic designed tracks without dodgy small extra layouts.

The circuits how they are atm are getting boring, or have strange track sections were you can think, how on earth have they made this.

Atm only the Aston circuit is somewhat realistic in my eyes. Its the only circuit with a good balance between high speed and slow speed corners, and the only track i enjoy driving on. For instance Kyoto National is too boring with too much simular speed corners, the problem with most of the lfs tracks is that they havent got much difference in the corner speeds, Blackwood is a typical layout which has too much corners with the same corner speed... Its not only the Kyoto layouts which are boring or have very strange chicanes... More tracks have really strange corners or chicanes, Fern bay for instance... But enough about the tracks we have... This thread is about new tracks.

Atm im dying for some new and good designed tracks, the game as it is atm is quite good without major buggs etc, i think its time for some new tracks, instead of a new patch, i think loads of guys will agree with me that we need some new tracks asap.

If i look at myself i see that im driving more and more different race games such as Rfactor... LFS imo is getting boring, if it comes to the tracks. Not the gameplay that is.

IMO there still is no game that comes near the gameplay of LFS, but other devellopers arent standing still. LFS needs to expand its track database, to keep it interesting. I dont know how difficult it is to build tracks for LFS but this year we havent seen any new ones.

Dont get me wrong, i have a deep respect for the devellopers offcourse what they have done sofar, but we really could do with some new tracks. See this as a emergency call from a hardcore LFS driver.

Maybe the less hardcore drivers wont have this problem, i think the hardcore guys will know what i feel when racing in LFS...

Dont get me wrong with this topic by the way, i dont wanna force the devellopers in making new tracks instantly offcourse, i would like to see what the community thinks what we need next, thatswhy ive made a small poll to see what you guys think.

It also would be nice if a develloper could reply to this, give his thoughts etc...

I cannot say that I would die for new tracks, I will, however, welcome any new quality content. But rather than that, I would like the new patch to come out as soon as possible, because I just can't wait for the improved AI and other stuff that comes with it.
As for the thread itself, I think you should have posted in the most recent "Yay or nay" thread, because this whole "new content" thing is just starting to get a little over the top, IMO.

+1 for new HIGH QUALITY tracks anyway
I agree. I've been playing LFS for almost 2 years but last few months i feel that i'm not interrested in LFS so much like one year earlier, because i'm getting bored. 6 track areas with few combinations is IMO too little. I haven't drove all 8xx combos yet, but i think the time has come for at least 2-3 new areas.
I know that buying license for RL track is for devs almost impossible and creating new, pure fictional track is not easy at all, but maybe little "Track design competition" could help.
Tracks come in patches. So I'll be very happy with both.

I don't want more configs of existing tracks (except perhaps Westhill, which needs a club varient), so I hope Eric has some nice surprises for us...
I really want some new tracks, it`s about time soon imo.
But the dev`s has a lot of other work to do too, so we can`t start demanding anything

I`m not exactly dying for a new track, but I could certainly need a new one to keep the interest for LFS up.

I think 2 configurations of a track is ok, but only if they feel that it has been done in a good way, in LFS i have too often the feeling about a config that its not done in a proper way that the track doesnt feel right.

Most modern real life tracks have often a short and a long layout.

Anyways, im really really really hoping for some new tracks, but im afraid if we dont get new tracks that my interest in the game will flow away... I have the feeling that since i got licensed in august 2005 that i havent seen anything new if its about the tracks. The game itself has made some huge steps forward but the rest is standing still...

WE NEED NEW TRACKS
#9 - JTbo
Software has no direct control of my vitals, so I hardly doubt it could cause my death by any means. So answer to question is certainly not.

But if you are asking would I like to have some new tracks, then I would say that why not, could not harm at least, however I'm not particularly wanting to see new stuff right now, it will come when it comes, BL1 is just enough to keep me busy so far, I might move to BL1R at some point, but I need still practise bit more of BL1.
The track selection has become awfully long in the tooth now, we haven't had a new track (ok, we had 2 new layouts, but no new track) in over 2 years.
TBH, it is very due now for a new track, it becomes even more apparent when you are looking at combo's for leagues...........
Yes, we could do with more tracks. As others have said, not track configurations (between Aston and Fern Bay we've already got more than enough of them), but actual, new, track environments. Especially ones in more varied locations around the world.

Dan makes a good point about combos for leagues - at the moment a league has to revisit each track several times, and only races in England (four times), Jamaica, or Japan. Not exactly realistic.

New tracks can't come soon enough imho, especially if we get something with the flavour of another continent and some great character. (Oh, and a track with some more technical, careful sections too!)

+1, I haven't been playing LFS much lately simply because it's the exact same content that I have been playing for forever. New tracks and content would be the best thing that could happen to LFS right now.
Yes, some new tracks would be great. Even just one new track, if it were designed well enough and had enough alternate layouts, would be good.
I trust the developers to introduce new content when they think it is right to do so. They got us the BMW Sauber when we didn't expect any new cars, and they are updating the old tracks anyway, so maybe we will get a few new combinations in patch Y.

Again, -1 for new combos. New combo is still the same track, only few new corners. Even if Eric had rebuilt whole South City, it's still only modification, not new track. I really appreciate his work, but i think the time has come for something more than only new combo.
Well the Sauber isnt a very usefull car in LFS IMO... Its rather useless, close racing in combination with that car is useless... Althoug the so called noobs seem to like it on the kyoto oval going flat out...

Seems my feeling is supported by many others...

Hope one of the devellopers can say something too, maybe lift a little of the curtain... Of things we maybe dont know...
I'm with them. There are enough combos with the existing tracks and would love to see some new tracks.

I'd like to see an epically long circut.
I'm no hot lapper, but would love the challenge of doing a nice clean 10 minute lap at an Eric created monster.

On that note, does anyone know if there are any limitations in LFS's engine that might make long tracks impossible?
TBH I am getting more bored with topics like this than the tracks in LFS. In my opinion you should be happy with new combinations and updated track graphics, because the focus of S2 at the moment is getting the physics right and fixing the bugs.

My suggestion, go buy Rfactor. They focused on content and modding, go take a look at the result.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :...

The desire for more content in LFS is not a bad thing. More content will bring in more sales for the devs. But, they know this...
I'll bet that more content is being developed right now and in time, it will make it into the game.

When did the devs announce that they were only working on bugs/physics?
I would love some new tracks or even a new layout.

But, I wouldn't moan or be that bothered if we didnt see any. I love this game as it is and I dont need new tracks to make me love it more.

I think it was Scawen (whoever that is) who said that patch Y would be the next big physics update, with a few extras thrown in like track updates and improved cockpits for the race spec cars.

At the moment new content is a bonus, I think the aim of S2 is to provide a very stable bug free base that they can use for S3. I will only be dissapointed if S3 doesn't have much new content.
Instead new tracks, I'd take major overhauls of the old tracks. Well that would be probably the same amount of job anyway but the problem isn't the amount of tracks or lack of new tracks, it's the track design which obviously has some certain, actually quite big flaws in nearly everyone of them, mostly of course in Fern Bay. Like thread OP already said.

Narrower corners, tighter corners, slower corners, more sweeping corners, chicanes that actually requires breaking... in general more logic in the track profile. Please.
I'm sorry, but I haven't bothered to read this thread. And i'm sorry if I come off sounding like a jerk but it's about this thread and others like it and the usual timing of them that gets my attention. It always seem that from late July to about mid-September, these threads start to appear. These threads are started by different people and even though they aren't word for word, they have alot of similarities. I dunno it could be that these threads crop up all the time and I only notice from July to Sept. , but I don't think so. My question is why is it concentrated in this specific time period every year? And I do know these threads get posted in like April or February or something a little bit. It just doesn't seem to happen as much as it does now.
LOL it's like some sort of genetic trait or something. Are we at the point where Demographic based consumerism intersects with socio-evolutionary development? Uh yeah i just made that word up
I think we don't need more combos of the existing tracks, what we could do with is some new tracks, they needant all be grand affairs, some could be as small as Fe Green and just a single layout, personally I like the current tracks, except for Aston National and the oval parts of Koyoto, which should be bulldozed and replaced with some nice esses IMO. The only extra combo I might like to see is a Ky Nat + GP, could probably do with a link road off GP onto nat, nicely avoiding any of that dreadful oval thingy then a nice hairpin, something else LFS is missing back onto the GP circuit.
+1 for new HIGH QUALITY tracks
