Pc Still randomly restarts whats wrong with it

i just bought a new psu but that is now 550watts and i thought it would fix but it just restarts

any one have any idears why

thanx austin
Overheating? Virus? Drivers for something? Could be many things. Check your CPU temps, make sure they are normal, scan for virus', etc...

Bad memory modules did this to me, check yours.
How can i check can u plz its hiting 75 degrees celcius bloody hot
Google search Memtest86, download it, burn it to a disk, restart your computer with the disk in the CD drive and make sure you computer boots from the CD.
Well if your CPU is at 75 degrees just at the desktop not doing much, sure explains things. CPU's usually have thermal throttling where they would slow down and/or shut down when getting too hot. Check your heatsink for dust, reappy it with some new thermal grease. Any overclocks on the system?

lol whoops that my gfx card temp and it dose when i am not even using no dust cleaned when i put psu in no over clocks
Well go check your CPU temps...

Can you please try to make more sense out of your posts. I had to re-read a few of your posts to even figure out what you meant.

If you wrote a post like this, with full words that are all spelt right you will get more help solving your problems.
How can i find cpu temp
Go into your BIOS and you should find a temperature readout there.
If u mean when ur pc starts i dont see any thing about temp only bio and i cant press on them

What GFX card do you have? 75 seems very hot indeed, especially when your not doing anything.

My 6800GS idles at 38c and hits 60c maximum under sustained load.

I'm not expert on GPU temps though.....

..............Do i hear Jakg approaching?
No but I'm on my way. 75 for a 7900 GS isn't too bad actually. Could be cooler, but hey, it's no temp that you should be killing people about. Download speedfan, it will give you your CPU temps. If it doesn't read your CPU for some reason (it should) check out motherboard monitor.

For a 7900GS i wouldn't go over 70° load. My 7950GT (an overclocked, volt modded 7900GS) loaded at about 64° with stock cooler. Idle is dependant on the airflow and general heat of stuff in your case.

I'll let LFSn00b make the obvious "IT'S OVERHEATING!" comment.

Ahh, ok I wasn't sure what yer new fangled GPU's ran at.
I'm always so behind the times

That surprises me though. CPU's seems to be getting cooler all the time (as far as AMD are concerned anyway, i know nothing about Intel) I would have thought they would be trying to get cooler GPU's as well.

Enough of my rambling.

EDIT....i knew he'd be along before i finished my post

8800's can go up to 80° just fine - tbh cards are getting faster, but not getting cooler (*cough* R600)

CPU's are getting cooler (ie overclock a Presshot and it's 200w+ heat output - my Quad puts out 95w at stock)
Lol ok so if my pc over heating i need what

i think i have 2 cores in this pc

Punctuation.
What GFX card do you have? There's no way of knowing if your card is overheating as we don't know what model it is. (unless you've mentioned it somewhere else, but i don't see any sign of it in this thread)

Although thinking about it, you would probably be more likely to see artefacts before your system rebooted if it was purely down to your GFX card overheating.

Try Motherboard Monitor for checking your CPU temp http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=311
(and find out exactly what CPU it is. (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php is a good tool for this)

EDIT..i see you sneaked a pic into your post when i wasn't looking
ok well i am runing nvidia Geforce BFG 7900gs oc 256

and i just bought a new Huntkey 550watts ATX 12V 2.0 verstion power psu

He's got a 7900GS, but tbh i'm thinking theres awful airflow and his CPU is cooking.
my mcafe virus thing told me that there is a virus that will cause a computer to restart continuily
