Setups-without the PASSENGER error
Hello,

I'm just getting onto the track as a pure beginner (with all of your help). I've been on the CTRA Race 1 a little and can now finish a race (HA HA - I'm really bad but learning).

Is there a "SET" of setups I can download that do not have the "PASSENGER" error. I D/L the package from the INFERNO site but a lot have the errror. A lot of times I load a setup from my CAR/TRACK list for that server track and when I try to get into the race, I get the PASSENGER error. I have to fish around for one that works and then it may be real bad for me.

Any suggestions here would help (I am clueless as to how to do my own setup).

Thanks in advance and cheers,

That's odd, the setups I downloaded from the inferno setupfield all work fine for me on the CTRA server. I didn't download a pack, though. I just downloaded all the setups individually, and only for those tracks that are in the server's rotation.
what really needs to happen is that ctra needs to stop looking for the passenger, its unacceptable, frankly, to have to deal with that.

A passenger will pose no advantage, especially in the power-limited street cars...

I don't mind legitimate bugs, but this is a bit dumb to leave it in there broken.
Wreckers often use passengers.

I think thats the main reason.
Your still far better off asking the faster drivers on the server for their sets. (at the end of a race of course ) Try and get a few for each combo and find out what suits you best.

The majority of Inferno sets are hotlap/WR sets anyway, totally useless for races, and often very hard for rookies to drive.

I started out with Inferno sets but have deleted nearly all of them now.

Wreckers often use cars. We should ban those as well..

"Every tool is a weapon."

Banning something because wreckers happen to do it is retarded, and if thats the case, the CTRA people need to look up the difference in Correlation and Causality.

I doubt thats the reason though...CTRA seems too smart for that.

You can add ballast if you want an ego trip, if your adding passengers you've obviously got no intention of racing, and those people who add passengers tend to also add 5 million miles more ride hight and enough springyness to match a bed - if you have no intention of racing, you seem to have every intention of dicking about, and in that case you could actually damage the race of someone who IS trying to race.
I got this message only once. I clicked the new setup button -> creates a copy and asks a name and voila; it works again. So not so big of a deal

Since all the races on the CTRA servers are "sprint" races the inferno sets do just fine, IMO. With a lot of them my tyres are just reaching optimum temperature at the end of the race so it's nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. Or maybe it's just my driving style I'm not superfast but I'm in the top 6 most of the time so...

I'm pretty confident I could do even a 20 or 25 lap race on most of those sets.

Your just not pushing hard enough ,or maybe I'm just a tire punisher

Cant see anything retarded about it.

Auto-gears and 2nd mid-race join are disabled for the same reasons, AFAIK. As Jakg said, its obvious that you arent on the server for racing if you join a race with passengers in your car.
I keep getting this error as well, which is annoying since I use my own sets and obviously have no passengers (duh). A lot of the time it means I have to just give up on racing that server, or risk the entire field by using a setup that I've no idea how to drive.
Yeah, well, the point is, their setup see passengers that arent there.

So you have a bug that creates a major PIA...i've tweaked setups offline before for an hour or so, then try to join and get the passenger error. NO PASSENGER enabled. Nobody seems to know the magic combo that make it think there is one there...

So my point was, keeping that check in there is retarded.

You think a wrecker is going to go "damn, i cant have a passenger, I'm outta here!" ... no, hes going to turn the passenger off and still wreck.

Arguments based on correlation masquerading as causality are rediculous...thats the reason the "games are the reason for columbine" arguments are so weak.
Sigh. Really, how much trouble is it to just create a blank set and manually copy all settings over? Couldn't be more than 2 mins. That's like a fraction of the time you've spent complaining about it on the forums
what's the deal with having a passenger? what advantage is there for wreckers? do I have to try this?
Thank you
To those who gave informative help - thank you.

To the few who think that this is complaining, just keep your response to yourself - it really is unnecessary.

it adds an extra bit of weight.

There is no advantage for sane racers. Its just IMO a clear sign that you arent going to drive seriously if you have a passenger in the car.

I always thought this was a forum.
