What is the best (and most importantly, proper) resolution for a 17 inch monitor? My comp is 1440x900 but when playing LFS in this resolution, the car is verrry narrow and long in the top-down view. Other resolutions are too wide and short. I just need to know the right resolution before i resort to measuring wheels at all the resoultions to find the perfectly circular one.

If your monitor was a widescreen 17" then that's the right resolution.

An old TFT would run at 1024*768 and a newer one at 1280*1024

The best resolution to run a TFT at is the native resolution of the monitor.

I had a 15" LCD Flatscreen so the native size is 1024*768. So 17" should be about 1440*900. I think 1280*1024 should be better a bit?

17" should NOT be 1440*900 - that's a wide screen resolution, and he hasn't said he's got a resolution.

I've seen 15's and 17's with 1024*768 native, and with 1280*1024 native.
