Tomorrow is wednesday soo... are we gonna race?

If its ok i'd like to join y'all doing some LX practice. What sort of times are we talking?

Im in on LX @ SO or BL or anything really. Love that class. My only issue is time.
We're not in the same timezone so that makes it a bit iffy.
Anywho, I'll see what can be done. If all else fails, there's always weekends.

the servers from LX month are still up. I've seen SO and fern bay ones I think

I'm definitely on for tonight. I'll probably join the Volvolandia server at about 18:30 (GMT) or something. I'll have to take a timeout for dinner, though. I won't make it friday evening as I'm going to a concert, but I regularly check the server whenever I'm on the computer anyway, so I'll join if there's anyone on on any day. It'll be interesting to see how many people show up tonight, what with the different timezones and all...

Heh, I'm slow as well so no problem. I'm not really out of practice, I just never drove the LX4 much Only tracks I'm somewhat comfortable with now are SO Long and BL.

Don't know if I'll still be on at 8 pm (GMT) though. Maybe I'll just join when most people are on, as I can't spend the entire evening racing without suffering my girlfriend's wrath

Maybe if racing would start today 18:30(ish) and run as long there is interest in?

Laptop seem not to run game too well so not driving from me, also crappy wlan that costs 15 euros / day so it could be that I can't be much else than harm, but server is there, make it a really nice event, PM others that might be interested so you will get nice big grid there for today

I'm glad to hear that, I hope to be racing on Friday, as I get home, that is perhaps at 18-19GMT depends of course from various things (5 hours or so in car to get home etc)

There is still few racers racing at Volvolandia server, next race is going to be next friday, let's say that race starts at 19GMT so even I can probably be at home on that time

After reading this post in the afternoon I went on Volvolandia tonight (from around 8:30 till 9:30 Holland time) and could do 3 races. Races of 7 laps, SO town course Rev.

Some real good fun! Started out with lx6 (LFS-licenced for about two weeks, but GPL-addict for the past 8 years, so the LX6 is by far my favourite car, although a bit underpowered ) but as most others were driving lx4'rs (some other guy asked lx4 or lx6? , they said lx6 if you can handle it..ehh) , and you can kinda aim and shoot the lx6, i was going too fast compared to my skill, getting upto the ultra fast leader Renku, figured doing something stupid would make me look like an even bigger noob then for driving the lx6 when the others are lx4'ing.

After race switched to lx4, quickly tried to transfer most of my settings from lx6 to 4 (i ignored the lx4 so far in Lfs..) and off i went.
That sucked, now i couldn't hide my lack of skill. Out of ~7 people (if i remember right) the leading two (Renku and Iron) built a lead on me after lap one, never to be seen again. Them doing 1:30's and 1:31's, me doing 1:33's. But could take 3rd place.

Next race was good but a little stressfull. This time the same two leaders blasted off, but getting the hang of the track i could now sort keep number two in sight. In (i believe) lap 3 he went wide for the left hairpin following the back straight, me nearly spinning off as well watching that but could recover and take second place, with the fast guy (Iron) now on my tail. Pressure! All goes well, manage to get down to low 1:32's and one 1:31 high, and i have about two seconds between us in the last lap, where i mess up the fast third gear right corner following the really fast 4th/5th gear right halfway the track. Pressure! Pressure! :eye-poppi and the fast guy can now sort of draft, i rev the thing and put my head down behind the computer (i get over exited) to avoid extra drag and just manage to take second. Wiping the sweat of my face. Geez.

Yeah, i agree with Quint, the no mid race join was turning a few folk away, (no patience).
It was fun (except for my disco's, thnx BT) But, it needs more people. Most races were only 3 or 4 full, and round a track as tricky as SOtown reversed in these things close racing wasn't really happening (or was i so slow i was missing it all ?) Maybe reversed grids is an option ?

Thankfully the wreckers stayed away and all the incompetents (noob mazz4200) were at the back, but it would have been better with more people.

I'll try to make it on Friday, but.....it is a Friday ???

However, the more LX racing there is the better LFS is (imo). So thanks JT for at least trying to make this baby more popular.

Incidentally i realise it's not practical, but the LX4 and Kyoto GP is a fantastic combo, great rhythm, nice flow to it, but i guess to long for pick up races, shame.

I'm abit closer but unfortunately want be able to make it today or this weekend Will be building sheds away from home and want be back till Monday.

Always up for roadcar action though (the LX's are pure fun ) so will see you on track at some point I'm sure

Just give it a bit time and the server will get more populated. I'm so sad about my timezone compared to the majorities, hence why I've missed the races, but I'll still do my best to catch a few.

Once you get used to the LX and find a stable set, close battles are very possible and very fun with that class. The sets in this thread are extremly good for getting started.
To me it's the fact that's close to impossible to run several laps 100% the same (like with the FOX for example) so the fights end up being very fun and twitchy.

I was actually quite surprised about the turnout of people. At times there were what, 6 to 7 people on? I don't think all were racing at any time, but a few races had 5 or so people driving. I'm not yet competitive enough to be really racing with the leaders, but I'm sure as we continue these "LX meetings" more people will regularly join the server. I don't think it's necessary to actually limit it to wednesday and friday evenings, anytime someone wants to do some laps on the Volvolandia server just join and perhaps other people will join as well. Like I said before, I won't be able to make it on friday.

I've been busy recently, but will certainly be up for some LX racing when I have the time.

How do I get teh password for the Volvolandia Server ?

There is actually no password at the moment

Sure, we don't need to limit meetings at the wednesday and friday only, I was thinking that perhaps memebers from different timezones could also have separate event so that they will find company too to race with, server is there so you can use it, guys from down under could post their race schedule too and get races with LX on good time

If we keep wednesday schedule similar few weeks now, I'm sure there could be more and more interest, I'm really happy you guys got some good racing

I think mid race join = no, could cause lot less turn aways if we would remember to check race status from lfsworld before joining
Let's see how I will make that to be

This evidence clearly shows that it's still possible to RACE in LFS, not just a) "hotlap" online for 1,5h not seeing a single soul, b) cr****, c) dr***.
