Quote from timesonline :Jean-Eric Freudiger, McRae's agent, said the 39-year-old driver had been piloting the helicopter himself. Also on board were believed to be his son Johnny, another adult and another child. Police said there were no survivors.

i think its pretty much official

I think this ones better...

Sad sad day for Motorsport Fans, whether you liked Rally or not, you knew this guy was the best. He represented the UK to the full. And for a Scot , you gotta admit thats pretty damn awesome, as us Englanders aren't easy-going

I'm gutted, i had a 10inch mouth when my dad told me, and i still have one now.

R.I.P. Colin
Please, no . If there's something up in the air, heavens or whatever, please don't let it be .
First Richard and then this Then again it's just a coincidence, regular people die every day because of cancer and car crashes.
Such a shame, heard about the crash earlier. Was going to be getting on for certain that he was in it, if he wasn't then he soon would have said something.

Such a shame, one of the best drivers in rally yet!

RIP Colin McRae and the family
It makes it no less awful and it's unbelievable after he spent so many years in rally cars, but sadly things happen, things go wrong, and nobody is immune.

Bye Colin, we'll miss you. RIP everyone who was on board.
so it's official that he is dead?
I hope not, if is RIP dear Colin.

What a shame i really liked him
Its hasn't been confirmed. It's just that people are early with the RIP's so everything thinks he has died, when we are not sure if he has.
OMG his son was in chopper

Not many people die of Brain Tumors though :/

It happened at 4pm and nobody, including his agent, has had contact with him.

I (obviously) really, really hope we're all wrong and it's a big coincidence, but it doesn't seem likely

TBH mate, that means nothing.

I would be surpried if I found out he wasn't on board, but its not official til its official.

We all hope he wasnt on board, all the signs are pointing to him being on board. But nothing is official.
I think he meant generally mate.

It's not true until it's on the BBC.
so the mystery continues?.... i skimed the page 2 so i dont know if he was onboard... can someone clarify me?
Very sadly, a helicopter thought to have been piloted by Colin McRae has crashed, with no survivors. It appears, although not confirmed, that McRae and his five year old son were on-board. However the crash was so devastating that it has not been possible for the police to confirm the fatalities, and the casualties will not be known until a forensic team has analysed the crash-site.
R.I.P Colin and familly, all time best rally driver
im sure that the police already know if McRae was onboard or not....
