Graphic Problem / Game Freezes
Hi Guys,

I have actually big graphic problems with LFS.

I have the newest nividia-drivers for my gForce 6600GT, but the Problems are still the same:

The textures are mixed in the game ( don't know how to express it best) and sometimes the whole game freezes and i have to push the restart-button of my computer, because even the taskmanager doesn't work any more.

Does anybody know a solution ?

Here are some screens so you can see what i mean:

Your graphics card is artefacting - could it be overheating?
Well. I have the same problem. But i dont have the Artefact those mixed textures. but my pc sometimes freezes too, But it never happend on lfs.

Got the 6600GT too. I guess that you have the AGP version?
Yes, I have the AGP Version.

I even reinstalled LFS, because I thought the problems could be caused by custum textures, but the Problem is still the same.

Don't know if overheating is a reason, Everest says the graphic cards has about 45°C, but i will try it with open computer-case.

I read in another forum that the Bios is perhaps to old, is this possible ?

EDIT: Okay it is definetly not a LFS specific problem. Here is a screen of the Nvidia Control-Manager Preview:

It is definitely over heating. Try with the case door off, if it still persists, (temporarily) try with a small fan directly blowing into the case.

If overheating is the problem, another thing you can do is "underclock" your card. Follow guides for overclocking, but instead of increasing clock speeds, decrease them. Try decreasing 2%, then 4% etc. until these problems cease. This isn't the ideal answer, but it will allow you to use your dying 6600GT a little longer....

Also be sure to remove any dust from the 6600GT's heatsink and fan.
I dont think that it's overheating.

I have a Zalman Al-cu VF700 cooler on it.
It's about 28-30 degrees when idle and 35- 40 degrees when playing LFS.

It could be the memory getting too hot, i get the same thing with mine - the core won't break 60° at all, but the memory gets too hot and artefacts - only solution i've found is to chuck a case fan underneath the card to blow air at the chips.
hmmm,

The little heatsink is very hot.
Even if it's idle

I think that ure right about the 'memory' thing.
