DFP problem
Hi all

Received my new wheel today and had it working fine earlier! finished gaming and turned off the pc, but when i booted up the wheel isnt working! its been detected in windows and by the wingman thingy but nothing. Also the left LED is flashing if that helps, also there is no resistance while on desktop or in game.

help meeeee
Ok, here's where one of us ends up looking like a complete numpty:- me for suggesting it or you for not noticing.

The left LED usually flashes when the power cable isn't connected
OMG what a numpty

sorted
Another problem, the wheel is now stiff to turn! iv installed the lastest drivers from logitech, but earlier I was using older ones. Iv tried messing with the settings in wingman but they aint having no effect.
Stiff to turn

In game ? in windows ? in both ?

In windows/wingman all sliders (except rotation and overall force) set to zero and unchecked, combined pedals unchecked, overall force checked.

Force set between 50% and 101% (mines at 70%)
Rotation set to what ever you want (900 is best)

In game set force to what ever you want e.g i vary between 10% and 25% depending on the setup/car i'm using.

Mine's always stiff **cough** when i boot up, but always returns to normal when the game starts or when i go into the wingman setup and open and close the settings page.

Did you buy it new or secondhand ?

{Edit} Here's Jakg's wheel guide If you scroll to the bottom of the page it gives a much better explanation of how to set up a logitech wheel than my description.
Sorry for the long awaited reply.

Well when on desktop the wheel has quite a bit of resistence, I assume this is its default force! this I was able to adjust this with the previous drivers I got from the Wingman site by adjusting the center spring strength, but it's not doing nothing now! the wheel feels as tight on desktop as it does in game.

It was bought new and was fine when I first installed everything

FFB is off in games or set very low as I find it annoying, will turn it on when im used to driving with the wheel.

Going to uninstall the latest drivers and put the older ones on, and see if that helps.
Just tried to have a play with the FFB and it isnt working now at all, must be these drivers. going to change them and see.

edit

tried the older drivers and its still the same....dosnt even unlock the degrees of rotation to 900
From experience using dfp and g25 if they are plugged in while you are on your desktop the force is high so resitance to turning is high. Once you load up LFS the wheel will become light as the 'locking' force on desktop will be turned off.

As for unlocking to 900 degrees, it should be a simple case of moving the rotational slider to 900. There is a certain button press but I can't recall what it is to swtich between 200 and 900 so maybe it is that.
yes I can do it manually "select R3 Right paddle" but when trying to alter it via the software nothing happens now. Like I said its as stiff in game as it is on the desktop.

Either the wheel has had it or there is a prob with the software

Edit

GOt the rotation to adjust via software now after another uninstall/install but still no FFB! I do hear a short whining noise occasionally like its trying to do something. Apart from that the wheel rotates etc when booting and returns to center normally, I think the wheel has died after a few hours by the looks of it.
Right this is driving me nuts now!!!!!

Thought id try it on the missis laptop as a last resort...guess what!!! its perfect.

Back to the drawing board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wheel will calibrate when you first turn your computer on, nothing wrong with that.

If it works on a laptop but not on your computer then I would assume it is something set up wrong so double checked everything?
Make sure everything is plugged in properly. In control panel you should have te ffb turned on and set to 101% and everything else off. Set your rotation you want to use. In LFS make sure the axis are set up correctly and have ffb set up to a figure above 0 (also in game , and . will increase and decrease your ffb levels)
sorted

turned out to be a left over profile file after the wingman was uninstalled that was messing it up located in logitech/profile! once removed and everything re installed it is perfect again
so it's working on the laptop but not on your pc? maybe some conflict with another game-device? Joystick or gamepad?
Quote from ACCAkut :so it's working on the laptop but not on your pc? maybe some conflict with another game-device? Joystick or gamepad?

Looky above your post, he got it sorted. Was previous Logitech driver causing a conflict. (seems to be a well know problem with Logitech drivers)

Good to hear that N3il, hope to see you online
Ok im back

all is not well!!

Its done it again no FFB.

Seems to have stopped once the pc has been shut down. Removing IL2 as we speak to see if that conflicts with it or the other option is my trusty rumblepad 2.

Bloody hacked off with this!!!!
Wow, seems as though you're really having some problems.

Look here and download the clear calibration software, it seems you've got something somewhere in your PC thats causing a conflict.

Other than that the only other thing i can think of is perhaps you've got a dodgy USB socket.
I don't have any answers but I wanted to post to say that I admire your perseverance! If it got to uninstalling/reinstalling stuff I would never have the patience for that.
Dude take it back were u got in from mine did that and i got a new one now it fine its a bad connection
