Pretty damned hot
Alright, I give up... I have a heat issue. I've got an FX-62 processor in my desktop, and it idles around 50 degrees C most of the time, and I have NO IDEA why. The room temp is 77 degrees F, and its at 50 WITH the side of the case open and a small fan blowing air into the case. I have no idea why my temps are posting this high. The FX comes with what looks like a very nice heatsink - copper pipes and all. My previous processor DID get up to 55 at FULL load, (X2 4200+) but it idled more at around 42-44. It's on an Asus Crossfire Mobo, which means the processor is surrounded by heatsinks for the mobo, but I don't think that would affect it. I'm almost tempted to think that I'm just getting incorrect information, because even at 50 degrees I can touch one of the 4 copper tubes and it just feels warm. The case is not a mess, it is, in fact, very organized and even has a CPU air duct (sort of). But that shouldn't matter since it's OPEN. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas? If you want, I could post a photo of the setup, tho I dunno how that would help.

EDIT: If I run two instances of Super PI to peg both cores at 100%, the temperature creeps up to 59 degrees, and I do believe that 60 is the max rating for this chip... ughhh.
What program are you using to measure the temperatures? Thats the only thing I can think of, If its all well cooled..etc. Put any Thermal Paste on?
I used the thermal pad that came on the heatsink. And I'm using both AI Booster and PC Probe - they give me the same result.
I'm guessing you might have improperly seated your CPU's heatsink.

A FX-62 should generate more heat than your X2, but I believe you will need to try and reseat it.

I would try taking the heatsink off, clean off all the thermal grease with alcohol and q-tips. Then use some AS5 (or whatever you have) and try and get an even application.

There are a lot of good cheap aftermarket heatsinks available if you're interested though.
Yeah, I'm thinking about just getting an after market cooler. It's just that this one is supposed to do a very good job, and I like the small size of it.
It most likely is improperly seated and/or dusty not running right.

Reseat it, as the amd coolers are really good.

Check to see if all fans are running.
Check your voltage is set at stock in bios as well
I just ordered some Arctic Silver compound and I will take the heatsink off, clean it, and put it back on. If that doesn't solve it, I can't think of any other reason other than a hardware issue.
