Confused with O/C?
I have just started playing with overclocking my e6400.
Only problem is XP gives me different information than CPU-Z. (bios says x7 multiplyer?)

It does not make any sense.

That's... odd.

Windows doesn't read OC's in a typical way - ie Vista and XP both say "Xeon X3210 @ 2.13 GHz" and then in XP (but not Vista) it appends the " @ 2.8 GHz" bit.

I trust CPU-Z, but it's a bit dodgy with C2D's. You've got the latest version... :X

What's your motherboard....?
Gigabyte 965P-S3

I've just changed the multiplyer to x8 in the bios & there was no change at all. Cpu-z says exactly the same??

(cpu-z v1.41)

Have you turned off the 2 settings that lower the CPU speed/multiplier to save energy ?

I know my Q6600 drops from 2400 to 1600 when idle, think it's just the multiplier that changes.

WTFizzle?!

Not sure what to do then - is there any Gigabyte motherboard software...?

EDIT - Disable "C1E" and "SpeedStep" in the BIOS. Can't believe i didn't think of that *slaps head*

Sorry.
