id agree that tiff needell and jason plato would have a more accurate opinion on the driveability of the cars . . . but if you are watching tv to help you choose your car you are doing something wrong!

TV is there for entertainment, Top gear is entertainment with cars! Whats better? Its a shame that busybodies attack it despite the fact it is enjoyed by many people, i hardly think the chaps at top gear are using the track constantly, and when they do it is usually in the daytime, when the people complaining are probably at work.

The first complaint probably came from someone bored on their day off work

My mother works night shifts, and a lot of traffic, and ignorant people can really be a bother! There is a dirt track in our neighbourhood, and if the wind is good, you can hear the motorcycles. And when my mother is at work, I can assure you it isn't as much fun as you'd think. But I still think people that complain about it, usually just moved in, and they want to have the low price of something annoying in the neighbourhood, and then try to get it away.
I hadnt thought about people on night shifts sgt.flippy. I understand that it would be upsetting for them.

I doubt the majority of the people complaining are working nights though like you say, they just wanted somewhere cheap and tried to solve the problem later.

I have a fairly busy road outside my window, with double glazing, even the busses barely make a whisper, my dad builds kit cars round the back of our house and the glazing blocked out a V6 Rover engine with only the manifolds attached, so these people could invest the money they saved in high quality double glazing and everyone would be happy
Isn't that why the Riverside Raceway in California was closed?

They're trying to get Mont Tremblant in Quebec closed down now too. It's people like that that make me wonder how the human race made it this far... You have no right to buy a house near an airport/race track and complain about the noise. Not like it's a hard thing to notice...

My residence in college is directly under the flight path of 25% of all air traffic for the Toronto airport. After a week, I didn't even notice the airport!

It's the same for me at uni with Manchester Airport. Once every 30 minutes a plane will fly over, and unless I have nothing turned on in my room and my window open I never notice it. I did the first few weeks, but it just became white noise to me.

When the window is close (which it never is mind you) I don't hear anything because it's all double glazed.

To move into an area with a racetrack/airport already there, you have no right to complain about noise, if they build one after you move in, you also have no rights to complain as you can protest such things (they wanted to build a new apartmemt complex across the street from my house, but it was protested and they never got planning for it). It's these damn hippies >: (
I say sell the complainees with headphones (or ear defenders). That way they can play soothing music, or even nice nature sounds, like Squirrels being attacked by wasps, or sparrows misjudging landings and hitting brick walls.

Ahhhh, nothing like the sweet sound of mother nature to take your mind off noisy cars
LOL Good one Tristan

fyi it's filmed at a place called dutton park
Yay for useful bumps!

It's Dunsfold, not Dutton.
Wow a bump for a year old thread, you must have been seriously board Hughesie

While i'm here i might as well tell you guys the new series starts on Oct 7th and runs for 10 episodes.
There's always a contentious issue of 'expansion' by noisy places, should airports and race tracks expand and make a situation worse...?

However, if they're not doing anything new and it's just people moaning about house prices or complaining that they get paid a shift allowance but there is more noise during the day *cough*... Then screw 'em.
I still haven't quite understand the bumping issue all guys here have, who cares if someone bumps old thread, who frickin cares, it's not gonna take away all your money or something, and it sometimes even helps some people to see threads they never seen before.
Nah, i don't have a problem with it, i was just making an observational comment. But, you'd have to go back a fair few pages to find the thread in the first place, and i'm guessing you'd have to be REALLY board to search that far.

yep the problem with people is everyone is a NIMBY. not in my back yard. they dont want an airport next to them but they would be happy enough to drive 50 miles to someone elses backyard and take the plane from there. This crap holds up infrastructure to no end.
Quote from sinbad :Let's just hope the complaining residents do not adopt Australian noise-pollution erradicating methods.
