Something wrong with this forum & Firefox?
I can't post attachments, smiles and the other formatting controls doesn't work and then for example when pressing the Search link, it goes to the advanced search page and the little window that usually opens doesn't show up. First I thought there's something wrong with my Java but it can't be that, because with IE everything is fine and other forum which uses this same vBulletin software works fine too (with Firefox).

I'm using Firefox 1.5. I found out this yesterday. Before that everything worked fine and I haven't recently reinstalled Firefox/Java or anything.

Anyone else having these problems?

PS. I didn't post this to the website bugs section because this might get wider audience here...
Everything works fine here.

But recently since the 1.5 install, my Firefox has been freezing up when viewing sites that have heavy Javascript or something.... Kinda wierd. There is fixes for it, but nothing has worked for me. It has something to do with extensions I had installed upon installing the new version. Some people apparently are having troubles because of that.
deggis, there were problems with cookies when the forum was upgraded, I assume its not that... (as surely youve used it fine since then) but try finding your lfsforum.net cookie and deleting anyway, that worked for me. Theres a thread somewhere in the website bug section.
It works now after I cleared cookies. Never bumped into this kind of problem so I didn't guess it could be the cookies.
No - problem is your browser - Firefox sucks.

Get Netcaptor/Maxethon/Slim Browser etc. IE render engine plus all the tabs popup stopping etc. Best of both worlds...

I don't want to start a browser bash but if you say the IE render engine is better as Mozilla/Opera/Safari render engine you don't understand much of html render engines (xhtml, css2)

No, the problem is your wrong opinion. As I said the problem is solved now.

But it's still IE. You can't shine horse shit.
Online banking doesn't work in the UK using Firefox for starters...

"My Lord, IE still holds Market Dominance!" cries the Fanboy.

The Emperor responds, "Yes young Foxer, on my word unleash more Spam!".

"Yes my lord, we will commence Spamming.....I mean "Spreading" Firefox."
Firefox Fanboys Regroup to Spam More
Quote from Seahorse :Online banking doesn't work in the UK using Firefox for starters...

Thats odd, cos I online bank (UK) all the time in Firefox. Works a treat.
Used IE for a long time, and ANY alternative to IE is highly recommended, everyone should know that. And whether it be Firefox or Opera fanboys, it doesn't matter, it is for the better.... because IE is causing so much crap with people's computers....

On X-Mas Eve at my relatives house, they were using their laptop that had a fresh Windows install.... browsed the internet a bit, and all they did was goto some news site and BAM, the browser window minimized, a popup appeared that was only flash (That transparent kind that is not in an actual application window), the desktop changed to say it had spyware, then hell broke loose. Fake Windows Update popups started appearing, Fake Registry Cleaner popups, and much much more. I succeeded in saving the computer by doing an online scan, which found 5 trojans, 130+ counts of spyware, and lots of other things. And this all happened within an hour or so. Absolute hell. And if they had left it how it was, any average user would just make it worse not knowing how much it wanted to spread.

So instead of having this disgust of 'other browser' fanboys, it is refreshing to know that you can COMPLETELY avoid IE problems and exploits by actually listening to the boys who cry for dear life trying to save you the trouble --- "You are browsing the internet like a clueless noob, save yourself!!!" So to speak
1. My bank and hers don't work with Firefox. Find me a site that's NOT compatible with IE engine.

2. People who don't patch PCs/run up to date virus checkers/scan for spyware/use a Firewall get all they deserve.

3. Nothing to do with IE though you muppet...:zombie:
Quote from Seahorse :1. My bank and hers don't work with Firefox.

Then they should sort out the code and get it somewhere near w3c standard. Am starting as a web dev and wouldnt dream of releasing a site that wasnt cross browser compatable.
Quote from Tweaker :Everything works fine here.

Same here, no matter what browser I use.

Couldn't agree more. Some time ago when I was using IE I had to run spyware scan almost weekly and found always tens of spyware hax0rers and other shi*. And I had so tight settings that a site that wasn't on my "allowance list" wasn't even allowed to use cookies without my permission. After changing to Opera I have had about 3 or 4 spyware detections (in a year) with same firewalls and setting generally. IE is just plain shi*.
Seahorse, not sure where your coming from, but I work in Computer Security and IE has several UNPATCHED holes in it.

When a hole is found in IE and posted on to the web, it can take MS up to 11 months or more to patch it.

When a hole is found in Firefox its patched within 5 days.

I know where I rather stick my balls.

I use IE when I have to (I dont any more) and Firefox the rest of the time, getting rid of the spyware on a 100% fully patched machine was getting boring.

But yes this is sliding off topic and really the origonal topic is closed.

[edit](still OT)
Just checked out your link Seahorse, that Popular Tech site - thats pretty transparently written by MS fanboys Im afraid.

I can blow most of their arguments out of the water FF Vs IE.

On another note - I tried IE7 and I really cant fault it. There you go, I said something nice about MS... god what is the world coming too...

I fail to see which bit of this sentence people don't understand...
Quote from Seahorse :I fail to see which bit of this sentence people don't understand...

If by "best of both worlds" you mean Firefox/Opera user interface with the rendering engine bugs and security holes of IE, then you are correct
No I don't and yes I am...
Erm, away from the browser bashing, I'm using Firefox 1.5 and today I tried to input the multiplication sign (alt + 0215). Instead it took me to a vBulletin search screen. Experimenting then showed that alt + different numbers did all manner of different things. How long has it been like this, and how do I input a character that requires alt + numbers?
Edit: Just noticed it's already been answered above:
Not to get into that browser bashing crap, i just recently installed 1.5. Alot of the times my firefox now will say, page unavailable, and ill have to hit refresh. This forum works without a hitch for me.
Quote from Seahorse :I fail to see which bit of this sentence people don't understand...

Your making a fairly large statement without providing evidence Seahorse. Pointing us to an MS bias blog isnt evidence by the way.

Everyone with an ounce of sense that doesnt work for Microsoft knows that IE6 is like surfing the web with your trousers down - fully patched or not.

If you dont believe me when I say there are unpatched bugs (ok so this isnt IE directly, but IE is the attack vector) how about a little read of this advisory - http://www.microsoft.com/techn ... rity/advisory/912840.mspx

So please give me some evidence that in fact you do know what your talking about instead of just making wide statements that count for nothing.
im on firefox 1.0.6 and everything is fine with me m8 u must be one of the "unlucky ones"
Fanboys...

I am not pushing Internet Explorer and if you bothered to read this thread you would see that. A fully patched PC with a decent up-to-date virus checker/firewall/spyware scanner is far more important than the browser.

What I'm advocating is a modern browser that uses the IE render engine with all the bells and whistles people expect today; Compatibility & some modicum of security.

Whinging about badly written sites doesn't alter the fact that 99.9% of them with work with the IE engine.

There are plenty of unpatched bugs in Firefox - read their own list, but that's not the point either.

Here's an article written in plain English with sources which debunks Firefox Myths - Especially for you.

Enjoy...:yikes:
moved thread to off topic.
