The FO8
We need a FO8 Kyoto Oval server

I raced on a private server that featured FO8 and I had a group race with me. There was great action and it was really fun (despite the fact that FO8 are so hard to control)

Someone should start a FO8 Indy League

Something similar to the LFSCAR expect with about 3 or 4 road courses in between

Used to be tons back when the FO8 was the fastest car.

If you really want a challenge, drive the FO8 on a real track.

So you consider oval racing a sham, what a surprise

wait i thought an oval was a real track..

Obviously Forbin doesn't consider ovals as real serious tracks.

As a result, his view is likely that oval racers are retards with no skill and cant drive for crap

well he has alot to learn..
I dont want to defend anyone here, but the oval we have in LFS is dumb... You can drive any car there with full throttle. The FO8, however, is a very tail-happy car. Driving it fast on a twisty track with acceleration spots is very challenging.

I DEFINATELY AGREE. In fact driving the FO8 on oval is actually a little challenging, which is the major reason why I'm lobbying for a Indy Sim League in LFS with the FO8.

I'm incredibly bored racing in Kyoto

all I do is go full throttle through every turn. It's so boring, and drafting is not as much of a factor as it should be, so i cant block effectively
Forbin isn't the biggest oval fan in general, though having spoken to him about it at length I think his opinion would change if a more challenging oval were introduced to LFS (i.e., one that requires braking or at least something more than 100% foot-flat-on-the-floor driving).

The FO8 and FOX are both very entertaining on the Kyoto oval for drafting battles, but it gets old pretty quickly (for me, at least).

FO8 is my favorite car in LFS, and a real beaut to drive on the road courses. That's probably all Forbin meant by it.

Going flat out through the whole lap with minimum wings and the car doesn't behave badly at all isn't exactly what I call challenging... When I did it, I was trying to stay awake after 5 laps...
Kyoto oval is rubbish for oval track.
Try taking 3 night-time nyquil and jacking off before you get to sleep, it's a fun game, because no matter what, you always win.

Apply that same technique to an FO8, do 3 laps while jacking off before you fall asleep... :hide:
Dustin, I dare you to go one night without mentioning masturbation on LFS/lfsforum.

What i meant it is if you turn too much in turn 3 u'll actually spin out. That came as a surprise to me considering how crappy the oval physics is in LFS. It's really REALLY hard to spin out by yourself on Kyoto.

eh?
There is no oval physics.

Well.....ok ya, I'll agree with ya, oval physics in LFS is completely absent (which is why ovals in LFS are so boring)

Damm where's Bristol when you need it the most

and why exactly would the laws of physics suddenly change somewhere at the amrican border ?

Aw c'mon now, he never said they had no skill. :hidesbehi

No, there just isn't such thing as oval physics. Physics are universal, and LFS has few flawed models that might show up worse in the high speed environment.
Quote from Shotglass :and why exactly would the laws of physics suddenly change somewhere at the amrican border ?

I'll give you an example. In ovals, the aerodynamics are very different than on a road course. If you have five cars going through a giant superspeedway banked turn and three cars lined up on the high outside barely touching the wall while the other two are hugging the bottom close to touching the apron. The line of three cars would win automatically, even if they had to cover a lot more ground.

That doesn't work in Kyoto. In Kyoto the only way to effectively pass a car is to go on the inside. On a real oval it really shouldn't matter which line on the oval u take, but how the car's setup and the situation surrounding the incident. (Most overtaking I've done on ovals in NASCAR 2003 is in a slingshot move on the outside)

Shotglass do you have some underlying discontent with my presence? You always seem to combat me any chance you get

that's what I meant to say: sorry bad wording (damm it's getting late here )
Don't try to drag this on personal level again please.

air doesnt suddenly choose to behave differently if you put it into a huge bowl

no its just that you rarely post anything sensible
Quote from Shotglass :air doesnt suddenly choose to behave differently if you put it into a huge bowl

The cars should behave differently on a road course than on a oval.

In road course the cars are generally spread out more. However, on a oval they usually maintain a giant pack. Thus the cars will react differently in those situations.

As i explained before, in Kyoto I cannot pass on the high outside even if I have a group drafting with me. The drafting model is just incomplete. That's all I'm saying
