Quote from Forbin :It's not possible. LFS has a limit of 720 kmh. I believe the reasoning was that, above that speed, as you approach the speed of sound, the aerodynamics get... complicated.

I think is a limit of the speed variable (when programming variables have limits of how big the number can be). And to prevent the speed going above the variables limit the car is reset. Otherwise it would cause weird things, like the car going at a negative speed etc.

But the speed of sound is 1200kmh!

Do you know what "approach" means? At 720km/h basic aerodynamic equations are beginning to break down - you need much more advanced equations. Or so everyone keeps telling me. I'm yet to see any.

Why do you keep yelling at me? :worried:

Can some one please post the missing DDL file I have so I can put it in system32 and register it because I don't have it.

Ok cool got it working but car not found, I'm running Po5 with LFS version p5
Quote from FPVaaron :I'm running Po5 with LFS version p5

You wanna slap him fonny, or can i do the honours?
I downloaded the version that was posted on this thread, if it's not the right one then please post the right one.
Mecanik Po5 works with patch P, not patch P1, P5 or P10 - just P.

At least I think that's what Looney's on about.
Oh ok, the p5 patch was posted on this thread to download to I assumed that was the right one.
is a version of mecanik available for patch q yet? or where can i download the 0.5p lfs.exe
Thanks in advance
I attached the 0.5P .exe and .abc file earlier in the thread - just go back a page or so and hunt for my name
I got the MecaniK to work last time I tried but now I don't.. I downloaded the 0.5P exe and abc file but now it says "Could not load font". If I remember right, I did the same thing before and it worked fine.
:yel:
FYI

At this point, i'm still unsure what will be the next app. I have started on
a Q version of MecaniK but considering the changes i want to make, i
might go a slightly different way. It's all for the best. Patience will be
rewarded
BTW, I just found out that the "time2rev" setting does indeed work, but it does not affect the revviness of the engine, but rather the spool time of the turbo. You can try setting something like 0,01 time2rev in the FXR, you will have almost instant boost, and great fun :-)
time2rev affects the size of the flywheel, this can be used to create enourmous flywheels weight more mass than the car, so with a suitably powerful engine to turn the damn thing, the car will revolve around the flywheel instead of the other way.

I didn't realise it affected spool time as well, however. I usually just turn the damn turbo off anyway.
I just did some test to see if time2rev indeed changed the mass of the flywheel. I just created a real big engine (2 million bhb 12 liter v12 ) wich can rev to about 100 000rpm and tried it with 0,1 time2rev and 100 time2rev. What I saw is that time2rev didn't change how much the car tried to "lurch" on 1 side when revving the engine. I tried it with more than 1 car too, changing cartype and turbo/no turbo, and there was no difference when changing the time2rev setting. You can try it if you want, but I am pretty sure the setting only changes the turbo spool time, and I guess there must be another variable somewhere wich changes the flywheel mass, since the setting worked real well in S1.
Thanks very much FonnyBone, spent a good couple of hours fiddling this arvo... and then I decided to try your app!

Tons of fun mate, thanks

On a little side note, can you have a little button to enable/disable the buttons used to return the cars' default settings because they can be annoying if you just click them by mistake instead of Apply and you haven't saved.
