Banning and how it works
There have been alot of questions about what happens when somebody gets banned. So i decided to make this thread.

How Banning works for Demo Servers:
On a Demo server a player is banned via IP. If the player is banned by a Vote to ban then the ban will last for only 12 hours.

If a player is banned by an admin. The only way to know this is if you were kicked and were unable to reconnect to the server again. If this was the case and it was an admin that banned you then the ban can be anything from 12 hours to 999 DAYS (almost 3 years)

How Banning Works for Liscenced S1 & S2 Servers:
If you are banned from a liscenced host you are banned by your LFS Liscence name. This means that even if
your IP was to change every time you reboot you will still not be able to connect to that server untill the ban expires.
If banned via a Vote To Ban. this ban will last 12 hours.
If banned by a server admin the ban can be anything from 12 hours to 999 Days.

What To Do If You Get Banned:
If you do get banned from a server your best option is to go to the Forum of the server owner (if known).

If it was a team server it is likely there is a forum and this will be the best place for information on your banning. It is recommended that your post be polite and certious stating why you think you were banned from the server.

Dont forget. It is likely that there is more than one server like the one you may have been banned from. So please simply Smile. and look for an alternate server.

I hope this will help some of you. My appolagies for the bad grammer.
what annoys me is that yesterday someone smashed me off the track, claimed it was my fault, voted to ban me, and about 7 or 8 people voted yes, i couldnt believe it, they didnt even ask why before voting
In those cases you should remember to save replay. (by pressing 2)
There is nothing better than a demo to really proove your innocense.
Replays is also good if you think a person should be banned. Admins are not always avaible but if they get a demo they could ban them later.

But hey. The best way to stay unbanned is to treat your fellow racers with respect, drive clean and use common sense.

* First corner isn't that important. I enjoy LFS more when I get to hunt!!
* Commit yourself to say sorry if you realize that you made a mistake.
* Don't flood alot of text.
* New on the track/car combo? Stay behind and learn the moves then kick ass!
I'd like to add a point per the above post about banning, that is when you are going to vote for ban. Please know what the situation is before YOU vote! Many times someone will initiate a vote and others just blindly follow with a vote. Before you vote, be sure of a few things:

1 - Did you witness the situation yourself on the reason for the vote?
2 - Have you seen previously, situations that the person has done, such as ignoring the blue flag, intentional wrecking, etc.
3 - Perhaps if the vote comes from someone you race with nightly and you can trust his judgement, then you can trust him when he votes and vote blindly.

The only time I vote blindly without knowing what happened is when the vote comes from a racer I respect that I have seen night after night and can trust his judgement. Otherwise I have to have seen the situation or have seen previous dangerous situations that is disrupting the race. Please don't just blindly vote for a ban.

One other thing, a Ban is pretty harsh. They happen often when an incident occurs that may not be the way you percieve it due to tempers on the track. A kick vote is always a good first option before just reaching for the ban.
