LOL wow xao you just made my day
that must of took u a long time to type and i get what ur saying
Quote from lizardfolk :Racial: It's American so it's retarded because America is predominately ovals. Or NASCAR is filled with low life rednecks.

you are really resistant to learning arent you ?

Quote from lizardfolk :My post was not meant as a sob story (if it was I would have worded it differently).

oh please the whole post has drama queen written all over it
do you even know what the word hate _really_ means ?
Quote from spanks :The timing cone was irrelevant to Force's crash. The cars were goin 300+ at that point, and the cone had no possible way to move fast enough to the side to hit John's car. John had a massive frame failure...read ripped in half...and basically had 0 protection between him and the ground. He is lucky to be alive.

Well, on the video it looks like the cones things damaged his tyre. If you go frame by frame and plot where the cone(s) will be after the disappear from view, the tyre appears to explode (before the apparent frame failure) when the cone reaches it. Might be coincidence, but I was only posting on what I saw.

Quote from lizardfolk : Layman's perspective: They think that driving a NASCAR going 180 mph around a superspeedway is just like them driving 20 mph in their family sedan around a circular parking lot. (Same type of people who think F1 cars are easy to drive) Therefore, they think it's easy and anyone can drive a stock car

F1 cars are easy to drive. So are stock cars. They might be hard to drive on the limit though, but that's different. F1 cars are easier than they should be though - damn electronics!
Quote from lizardfolk : Elitest perspective: When driving in an oval, racing line doesn't matter. There's no specific way or "art" of driving a oval. It's just going in circles.

Of course line matters. Like in any racing. It's just the lines(s) are(is) quite simplistic.
Quote from lizardfolk : False Competition Effect: Going in circles doesn't provide great action as road courses does

It creates more passing, but less action, imo. With so many cars on such a short track, passing is inevitable. But the passing isn't necessarily exciting (I find it quite dull overtaking).
Quote from lizardfolk : Growing Popularity perspective: These people are offended by the growing popularity of NASCAR and IRL. Therefore, they find any reason to combat it no matter how idiotic or ignorant.

Well, the more the dumb it down for casual fans, the more fans it will have. It's like if LFS allowed NOS/bodykits, it'd become more popular overnight.
Quote from lizardfolk : Star Failure perspective: Fans of people like Hideo Fukuyama, Christian Fittipaldi, Robbie Gordon, and Juan Pablo Montoya will be offended by how poorly they did in NASCAR. Therefore, in order to "defend" their stars, they have to insult ovals as "not real racing" so their stars wont loose any prestiege

I don't think C. Fittipaldi or Montoya had much prestige in F1. But both are better than average other the pond...
Quote from lizardfolk : Bandwagon Effect: Because a good majority of the people in their surroundings dont like ovals, they, in turn, also dont like ovals. They dont have a particular reason why.

Might it be the exact opposite that people like ovals too? Because they have a friend or two that does, so they do. The same applies to football. Personally I've always hated ovals. It's got nothing to do with my friends (most of which are car people anyway).
Quote from lizardfolk :Judgemental Eye Effect: they just hate it. No real reason why. These people dont even give oval racing a chance. They just attack it.

I wish I was in this catagory. It'd be much easier than trying to demonstrate the lower driving standards, lower difficulty level etc etc. But I'll keep trying to explain what is so dull about oval racing...
Quote from lizardfolk :Racing Taste: Some people just prefer hotlap style racing (rally, most road course series like F1, GT) over giant pack racing (NASCAR). These people dont necessarily hate it, they just wont defend ovals.

That's just a silly reason. Besides, the giant pack racing only leads to artificiality and more risk.
Quote from lizardfolk : Fact Overinflation: There's two types of these:
1. Ovals dont require as much skill as road courses. Therefore, oval racers are an "inferior breed" and should not earn respect of any kind
2. Oval series (IRL, NASCAR) have inferior technology, therefore it is vastly inferior overall.

Agreed, 100%
Quote from lizardfolk :Racial: It's American so it's retarded because America is predominately ovals. Or NASCAR is filled with low life rednecks.

Well, America is most ovals, and NASCAR is mostly rednecks. I don't see how stating a fact is racial hatred? Would you prefer I made stuff up about America/NASCAR?
Quote from lizardfolk :These are the kind of people I would like to meet
Open minded: Dont like ovals, but admit that ovals require skill and warrant some respect. They dont bombard it with ignorant attacks.
Keep in mind this is not targeting LFSers. This is a general statement

It does warrant some respect. As long as you appreciate that the vast majority of European racers will agree it requires slightly less respect than circuit racing.
Quote from lizardfolk :I really cant sort it out with Tristan because he (and many LFSers) absolutely have no respect for me or oval racing in general.

Not true, see above.
Quote from lizardfolk :I know most of the LFSers hate ovals and any oval racers (including me). Really, this kind of thing cant really be sorted out.

Yes it can - remove Kyoto oval (closed for repair).
Quote from lizardfolk :But that's alright, if you guys want to drive me away by giving me hard time, that's your decision.

It is? Marvellous...
Quote from lizardfolk :I will not alter my belief just so I can be "accepted" by people in LFS. I've been patient and explained the reason behind my affinity for oval racing. But a good majority of you just wont accept the fact that oval racing is "real racing".

And I will not change my opinion just to be "accepted" by oval people. See the parallels? But most oval people won't accept that oval racing is "fake racing".
Quote from lizardfolk :Hey, you know what? I REALLY DONT CARE.

Oh, I think you do. Why else would you defend it, start threads about it. I think you care VERY MUCH
Quote from lizardfolk : ou're entitled to your opinion. I'm not here to "convert" you to be an oval racer and I'm not going to moan and whine about the heavy amount of flak that I've been getting just because I like ovals.

But... You ARE trying to convert us, and you are moaning and whining that you've been getting? In fact, that is ALL you are doing.
Quote from lizardfolk :I've also gotten an implied message from Tristan that the lot of you also hate the "heavy" amount of oval news that I've been posting. Seriously guys, if the majority of the community hate me and my news (i thought they'd be interesting because of the international interest (Montoya, and Villeneuve)). Just tell me to get out and I'll leave the community. I wont stop playing the game because of the majority's consent, but I will leave the forum for good.

Well, they hardly excite most people, as can be seen from the number of replies. They also have nothing to do with the real racing threads that DO get lots of replies. So I deduce nobody (or very few) really care about what colour hair Villeneuve has this week. International Interest should be rather more than a North and South American...

Take care of yourself.
OMG YOU GUYS DO NOT READ POST BEFORE YOU REACT DO YOU

Quote from lizardfolk :

Keep in mind this is not targeting LFSers. This is a general statement

I did not say, these are the reason why tristan, or LFSnoob hate ovals, I'm saying based seeing many people attack ovals IN OR OUTSIDE OF LFS, that this is basically what I've seen. NOT WHAT I'VE SEEN IN LFS. Sheesh

Quote from Shotglass :you are really resistant to learning arent you ?

Are you so naive that you honestly believe that the whole "NASCAR sucks, you yanks dont know squat about racing" is not a racial thing?" while LFS may not have this kind of opinion. IT IS EVERYWHERE OUTSIDE OF LFS.

.....you honestly think this is whining and groaning 0_0. I am seriously shocked. You think THIS IS WHINING and GROANING? Wow you probably have never been in the xfire, gamepro and any other popular gaming community.

I never said "OMG OVALS ARE AWESOME BE A OVAL RACER". ANYWHERE during my time here. I've merely explained WHY I like ovals. If you dont agree with me? So be it. If I was REALLY TRYING TO CONVERT YOU, I'd be giving you millions of PMs explaining my opinion on ovals. But I didn't have i? As I've said

Quote from lizardfolk :You're entitled to your opinion

Why don't you turn it into a poll to see how many people like ovals and how many don't?
And if you look at history, American cars were always and still are, known for their crappy handling. So it's just a matter of facts why Americans like Oval better. For me it's just a very long drag race with A bend in it.
And if you look closely to the audience at Nascar (or stock racing for that matter), you'll notice the majority only sits there hoping someone would crash to make it interesting for a change.

TRUE. The stock cars are even hard to drive on ovals

Quote from sgt.flippy :For me it's just a very long drag race with A bend in it.

I can see your logic there, but I like NASCAR better than drag because the cars dont blow up as much

Quote from sgt.flippy : And if you look closely to the audience at Nascar (or stock racing for that matter), you'll notice the majority only sits there hoping someone would crash to make it interesting for a change.

That is not true. It is only true to the non-NASCAR fans who watch NASCAR.

NASCAR fans (like me) watch it for the racing (I love giant pack racing)
Nobody calls it a "racial" thing when I point out that black folks seem to make great football players The planet would get along better if people actually embraced their differences instead of pretending they don't exist... Equality is fine for rights, but for anything else it's rose coloured glasses. Pulling out the 'racial' card is pretty bogus.

All it takes is to watch a NASCAR broadcast to realize even the commentators are full of fan-fair hot hair nonsense most of the time. The US commercializes the shit out of things, everyone knows that - that's not being racist.

I have no problem with any form of motorsport, nor am I sensitive about any certain form - I can enjoy them all. Fundamentally speaking, one cannot deny that oval racing contains only a subset of skills needed for some other forms of racing, and that is what this is all about. Doesn't mean I hate it, it's just the obvious. It does make it "inferior" in an absolutist sense, compared to a few other forms, but I don't think that has to translate into "inferior overall".

Actually that WOULD be considered racist in the US. The US is all about being "politically correct"

It is true that NASCAR has a large amount of redneck followers, but gradually that's changing (mainly because many of the rednecks themselves are racist and are disgusted with the new amount of variety (toyota, montoya, villeneuve, etc) so they stop watching)
Quote from lizardfolk :Actually that WOULD be considered racist in the US. "

I didn't read the rest of your post even yet, but:
EXACTLY
Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :I didn't read the rest of your post even yet, but:

There is a great point here. Everything is racist lately. Perfect example: here in Belgium, a while ago, a young boy killed a little girl and her babysitter, and a few other foreign people. Everyone immediately shouted it was a racist killing.
Now it appears the boy wanted to kill himself, but apparently couldn't, so he killed random other people hoping the police would shoot him. It was just a coincidence he was walking down a street with only foreigners around.

americans are not a race FFS
dont use big words if you dont understand their meaning
Quote from Shotglass :americans are not a race FFS

Ok,

1. Race is not a big word
2. Anti-Nationality. Whatever, in American it's the same thing.

For example, if I were to say "I'm British but I hate Americans", then you would be considered a racist here. Even thought Americans "are not a race".

Uh, no it wouldn't. I agree with you on your points about NASCAR and it being a legitimate sport etc etc (still hate it though) but Americans are not a 'race.'

Although.. culturally they do differ greatly from the rest of the world
Quote from MAGGOT :Uh, no it wouldn't. I agree with you on your points about NASCAR and it being a legitimate sport etc etc (still hate it though) but Americans are not a 'race.'

Hmmm ok, fine I'll take note of that.

But seriously, here, it would be known as "racism" if that example were to take place.

Quote from MAGGOT : Although.. culturally they do differ greatly from the rest of the world

There's a intimate reason for that, but I dont care to map it out right now
I got about half way though this thread before I forgot what the thread was originally created for....

Pretty wild crash, but I still never get why they need to have those big ass timing blocks in the middle of the track. Why can't they use something else that isn't ON the track.
Quote from lizardfolk :1. Race is not a big word

race and racism are apparently really big words for americans if they cant even remotely figure out what they mean
Quote from Shotglass :race and racism are apparently really big words for americans if they cant even remotely figure out what they mean

It's more of a common misunderstanding of words. There are other examples of that, but I cant think of any right now.

That's exactly how pigin was created in Hawaii

Agreed, let's end all other unrelated discussions

I agree with you totally. You gotta accept the differences, before you force things together.. Think of it like this...
Formula 1 PURELY FOR EXAMPLE..

The FIA haven't determined what the difference is to the drivers... of the grass and the track.. The grass and the track can work fine, but if there is some grass on the track and nobody is told about it, this can cause problems. Also, cutting the track becomes a problem, but that's another story.
Looking at the crash again, I think Tony Schumacher's crash was heavier and alarming

Still both scary crashes
