Guages..
Don't flame me here, haha.. I was wondering what's needed to be done/how to edit the guage area of a car in order to get "white face" guages? I know you can already alter the readout/font color, but for some of us with lesser eyes/smaller screens, white faced ones might help make some of the analogs more legible. I saw somebody who had turned the whole guage background area to white, so I opened the DDS in Photochop, but it didn't seem to take the color edit once thrown back in the game.. (of course I'm not the brightest with Photoshop either, so I could have done somthing stupid/overlooked somthing simple, too :tilt Ooh, and if anybody happens to just wanna do it for me, (which I'm not really asking for, but..), I'm wanting to make all the dash guages in the XFG white. (but just the round/semi-round dials themselves - not the whole background area)

Thanks!
gotcha.. just realized the "white face" pick I saw in another thread was one of the formula cars - so it was white to begin with. hopefully they do somthing about that..
i think the guages really let the cockpits down.

I wouldn't mind, but the analog speedos numbers are too small :magnify:
Wow, I didn't realize so many people disliked the current guages, haha. I think the current ones are just fine, I'd just like to have a background texture I can edit if I wanted. I did what the most of you have done now, switched the speedo to digital, and I've gotten used to it..

Quote from Tweaker :Nope you cannot edit the gauges... I really wish there was just a texture beneath the animate part, but I don't know why we can't even have realistic looking gauges. And to think that the gauges USED to have textures in the very old versions makes me wonder if they'll try it again :o

in old version the gauges were a texture, but they didnt move. in new versions they are realtime rendered and thats why theres some problem with bg
They should really put a realistic gauge pack in with a patch sooon.
Doubt that will ever happen but.

Yeah I figured that was why we cannot have them back. Because the guages are pretty much rendered according to the engine's specs --- using a 'tool' to change the values like in Mechanik is a perfect example of how it all works.

It's a shame we cannot have a nicer dash cluster, but I see the reasoning for having the digital/analog kind at the moment. Because the devs are always changing the specs of the cars, and having textures would require changing the texture each time.... would be a real hassle, no doubt. That might be one reason behind it, but I cannot be so sure. I wish Scawen could answer such questions, because I'd really want to know why somethings aren't the way we all want them at this time . So I guess as long as we get 'final' versions of the cars where the specs don't change, then maybe we could have textured guages, would be sweet. But they should at least try to come up with some 'guage-face-generator' that draws the gauge layout into a bitmap form or something -- for either to be used right in the game, OR for an aid/guide to make a quality texture by hand.
But shouldnt they be designing the game for how we want it.
The game should be crafted on opinions of the ppl who use it.
