Problem during start of race
Basically at the start of a race when say more then 4 cars on a server the game just stutters really bad and makes stupid noises?

How can this be reduced, but i must tell u im on vista/wireless on a laptop, with a 64mb graphics card

I think it can not be stopted but reduced would help.
What speed is your CPU? It sounds like your laptop is just not powerful enough to play it.

There are plenty of graphics options to change - stick the LOD as low as it'll go, make sure you've got Haze turned on. Most of the graphics options have a couple of settings that are fairly self-explanitory.

Or check Jakg's guide to making LFS look better, and do exactly the opposite

What are your system specs. If your laptop has an Intel GFX card you might have problems, most modern ATI and nVidea solutions should be fine. Also with Vista you need loads of Ram. 1Gb min and more the better.

I run on an old laptop AMD64 3000 512Mb RAM and ATI9600Pro GFX with 64Mb Ram and its fine. But then I use XP so don't have huge demands just for the OS.

Use 16bit graphics. Lower you screen resolution and turn down GFX details until smooth. I can run 16bit at 1024*768 with most gfx detail up max with 2XAA and 4XAF without dropping below 40fps at race start.

As you have Vista I assume your machine is new so you should not be CPU bound. If you "downgraded" an old XP machine to Vista the chances are you just don't have the power neeeded just to run the OS and LFS as well
