anyone tried the new ATI Catalyst™ 7.10 drivers with lfs? it works ok? thanks (i have agp radeon 9800pro)

Why don't you try installing them and let us know. That would be useful.

For an older card like the 9800 I wouldn't bother with the new drivers. Some people are reporting problems with them anyway.

The new 7.10 works fine. No problems on my side (XP x64, x1950 Pro/512Mb AGP).

I have Catalyst 7.8, and I'm sticking with it because later versions (7.9 actually) don't work with Didect3D anymore. I made a thread about it a month ago.

well im using 7.9 on my AGP X800XT PE which i think is from the family of the 9800 (i think) im having no problems with it at all i even find it runs better then the 7.8 drivers.

i also play ETQW but only on medium settings still no troubles as of yet.

My system:
AMD3000+ (OC-1.98ghz)
2gig ddr run in dual mode
X800XT PE 256mb DDR3
A8V motherboard

pretty old machine too i am upgrading to intel quad at end of the yr

7.10 works like a dream here (vista x64, x1900XTX). provides a decent performance upgrade from 7.9 aswell.

What about in LFS?

LFS is more CPU-dependent, not as much GPU-dependent, so there may not be a significant improvement.

Working fine here with my X800pro, can't see any performance increase though
