LFS - super sim
hello, i have a sugestion to make LFS not only racing sim but to make it somthing like test driver , where u can drive in a big city, with lfs textures, cars and realistic driving LFS would be super sim.
it would take alot of hard work but its worth to try to do that
Not really, it is a racing sim, not test drive. While it might be fun for awhile, to make a big city would take alot of time, time that could be spent making more tracks/cars to race.

If you want to play something like test drive, I suggest you get test drive. LFS isn't a cruising simulator - plus, this has been suggested many times before.
i am sugesting it again, i do not whant to play test driver because it is not LFS and there is no LFS kind textures and no similar driving like in lfs, image 20 users connects in one not very big city and drives nicely or drift, drag around , if it would take to mutch time what about more workers to help to build that city
Your failing to take into account with 1 big city 20+ users = Death to lower end users or lower end modem users. Like in test driver there are wide open areas that thankfully dont lag your machine up...at times.
It would be nice, but it wouldnt be helpful towards LFS development and thats the most important thing atm, small ideas like this may come later much much later but not now.

+/-
go away with your test drive
i think it was a nice idea..
NICE!
Well, thats the kind of thing ive been thinking lately since the release of TDU.
Imagine LFS and TDU together in 1 game. People would be able to race in a proper track with the same cars we already have in S2, or drive around the city, or even race like in TDU when u flash some oponent to a race. I think the general concept of LFS would not be lost as it would still simulate racing.
Off course it would take a lot of time coding, which could be spent improving LFS, but what if scavier assigned that task to a few users, those who have already built some addons and helped improving LFS?
With this, we would have something like [LTC] Live To Cruise and CTRA in one.
Anyway, i know its kind of a dream, but it would be cool to see this come true someday eheh.

Regards
I've pictured it like this:

They continue to evolve LFS as a pure racing sim. And they branch off, and produce the most insane streetracing-game ever, making it possible to do things the way you can in other games.

Like letting the artists of the community make car-models to be added to the game, same with wheels. Getting more serious with the LFStweak-side of the game perhaps, so we can have "gatebil" kind of racing or "racing"! :P

Diversity is what i feel is lacking, so even though there are several cars to race, I find only a couple of them fun!

I know adding more bodies (of actual cars) to the game requires licenses and such, but having them as addons, wouldn't that get rid of the license problem? Having the community together with the "management" decide what cars should be added, could prevent the mess of to many different ones being added...?

I'm just blurting out what's on my mind here, please don't flame.. :P
i don't see how just throwing the body of a car in the game is going to make it more fun. you do realize that all cars act differently right? and i don't know where people will get the technical specs on all these cars they want in the game. and then how are all of these cars going to be balanced into classes?

and i'm pretty sure just because its an add-on doesn't mean that they can just start releasing actual cars.

LFS is great because it isn't like other games.
"i don't see how just throwing the body of a car in the game is going to make it more fun. you do realize that all cars act differently right?"

That's where the tweaking bit comes in. It's not that hard making a car act similar to the original. I wasn't talking about just the body...

"and i don't know where people will get the technical specs on all these cars they want in the game. and then how are all of these cars going to be balanced into classes?"

There are plenty of databases online that have specs, perhaps not detailed enough, but talking to a few owners could solve that problem. And, I mentioned "gatebil". I don't know you've heard of it, but it's all kinds of "classes" going at it... You should check it out!

"and i'm pretty sure just because its an add-on doesn't mean that they can just start releasing actual cars."

I'm not sure, so I asked... ^^

"LFS is great because it isn't like other games."

Well, I beg to differ! :P As people are different, they feel joy over different things, some like pure racing and others like just the driving experience and playing around with the car...
that's what never makes sense to me. there ARE games with all these things already(plenty of them actually), so why don't people just play them? why keep trying to change a game that the devs are not going to change?

Because the physics are ****ed up in every other game! Is that so hard to comprehend?

I'm not trying to change anything btw, I just said what I'd like to see...
