Not sure, but if you look further up the page Kev's looking to offload his copy of HL2, and it has CSS included in the package. You wanna nab it before anyone else does.

I gave HL2 to someone yesterday - sorry.

Not to worry, these things happen.

Got me thinking though. I wonder if a Games SwapShop thread would work in here. I'm always buying stuff that i play once then chuck in the back of a cupboard. And i often see folk in here talking about games i've never tried or even heard of. And with the price of new games these days, if you could trade them for the price of a stamp....

However, I can see a drawback with this little scheme....... Who the hell can be trusted in this place ?
Everyone except Kev. Watch out for him, seeing last time I was supposed to give him a game, I woke up the next morning beside his sister, and my ankles and wrists were sore, with like... rope burn... :hide:

CSS is a tenner iirc - i wish there was a Portal, CSS or TF2 demo - i like the idea of Portal, but i just don't know if i want Portal or the whole orange box!
You can also get the next level up from the Orange Box (the Ultimate Pack or something) which is $79.95 and includes all the CS and DoD mods, etc.

Random Question - Does anyone know what settings to run Portal on so that an Intel GMA would cope?

Might be a great time-killer for frees, i would let it auto-detect, but from what it did on my PC (It chose Medium rather than High with 4xAA like it does fine) i wanted someone elses input.
Jakg, try taking default, and if it runs slow, bump texture quality down, maybe shader too.
Finally finished the download from Steam..(wasnt going to pay £35 for it!)..and first thing I did was the Video Stress test...whacked everything up higher than everything else (quote=Ian Gillan, Made In Japan!) ....and was amazed to see that I was getting 85.xxx fps...

Totally love Portal..worth the £25 I paid for the package on its own...got to level 16 before I 'died'...by which time I was feeling a bit nauseous anyway with the rapid changes in viewpoint, and not knowing which way was up any more!

Got Steam Community stuff sorted as well, user name on there is "Bladerunner_UK".. already joined the LFS group, and itching to try out TFC2 ; so if there are any games being set up, give me a yell
I play TF2 every night, Bladey. I've added you to my friends list so if you want a game/tuition just ask.
Bladey, I'll probably be playing a lot of TF2 this coming weekend, Mostly Sunday (Then Monday and Tuesday, due to holidays/School day off). I'm one of the LFS group admins, so just scream at me on Steam.
I'm trying to buy TF2 right at this moment, but I can't get through to the Steam server...

Great to know there's a bit of an LFS clan about- I'll join up as soon as I can.
Just had to bump this thread, as I just completed Portal.

Although it's short - only 3 hours or so - its one of the most entertaining and funniest games I've played in years.

If you haven't got it yet, (especially if you're in the UK - it works out at £10.87 including all the tax when I bought it yesterday) you're a fool.
Haha, I now realise what the middle panel of that strip is

When I saw it yesterday I hadn't played it at all.
I can't get Portal running - I changed resolution to widescreen (16:9) settings and now my PC won't let it start - keeps saying "Failed to create d3d device".
Can't find a cfg or ini file anywhere to edit back to default settings.
(Ati Radeon X1300 card btw). Just updated drivers and it has not helped at all.
Any advice?

Right click on Portal in Steam and choose "Properties". Under "Set launch options" add "-width 800 -height 600" (or something you know works) and try again. If it starts select another resolution, quit, and remove the launch options again.
i this for ps3... ra ther rubbish imo , same old half life , no matter which ep you play
Still can't get Portal running

you don't know a good game if it hits you in the face with a sledgehammer with "The best game ever to be created" written on it, then...
Quote from Tweaker :Al, you need a new computer don't you

I ran Half life 2 and Portal with good framerates in 1600x1200 with everything except shaders/AA/AF on high on my P4 2.8ghz/9600 Pro computer so I doubt it's a case of the computer being too slow
