Pitlane limiter "on by default" screen
I think that the first time someone runs LFS S2, there should be a warning screen the warns new drivers that the pit lane limiter is on by default.

Would stop the slew of "why doesnt my car go faster than 80kph" posts

You see a green light on your dash that you don't have in other cars (and it's only on when your starting from the pit). I think it's kind of clear that there is something going on.
Tell that to the dozens of posters in the beginners forum.........
A nice RCM message, or a Big F'n button should do it.

Or a nice Scavier voice over going "Have you remembered to disable the pit limiter?"
I`ll agree with Dano, a message in their first race would be good. Something like "If you notice on the speedometer, there is a little green light. This indicated that the speedlimiter is on. When you exit pit, press "L" to disable it."

Something like that, but of course with decent english lol

lol that would be damn annoying if it glitched

"have you remembered to disable the pit limiter?" *turns off pit limiter* "have you remembered to disable the pit limiter?"
How about a sticky in the Beginners Forum that says:

"FFS if you're driving a race car and it won't go above 48mph/80km/h, check the limiter is turned off you absolute utter numpty. It's not coincidence you're stuck at the speed the signs say, retard."

LOL, who crapped in your chips today?
+1 even when starting LFS(not only for the first time)! I sometimes forgot to press L after leaving pits

Sorry, stupidity pisses me off
We all have the same info available to us, some of us choose to look for solutions before asking for help. Didn't take me long to notice my car wasn't going fast and I had a light on the dash that wasn't on before.

Maybe an instruction book PDF should be included with the game files, that might also help.
I think, in the absence of a manual, yes, I know there are pdf files and an online wiki, but people not used to the way LFS works might be excused.

I can see 2 easy soloutions, the nag screen, we have a nag screen when entering the demo multiplayer, it would be a piece of cake to add one.

Or, make the pit limiter defaulted to off, I bet my bottom dollar people will find the pit limited after wazzing down the pit lane at 100mph and getting a drive thru
I don't want a nag screen. Why should 99.99999% of players have to click through a nag screen about pit lane limiters when one or two monkeys can't work it out for themselves? There is documentation, albeit brief, included with LFS in the docs folder - not hard to find, even if you don't know it's there. There is also a search function on this forum (so we only ever need one thread on the topic), a wiki...

How much help do you want to give newbies? Shall we do the driving for them too, because that's a LOT more complicated that working out the buttons of the game you are playing.
I live in the US. We have warnings and nags on our coffee cups that warn us the contents are hot, that is how bad it is. I certainly don't want to have to click through a nag screen about a freakin pit limiter every time I start up LFS. If the genetically stupid can't figure it out themselves with all the information directly in front of them, so be it. Threads on stupidity should just be posted by a moderator that says "search" and thread closed. It's right there in sticky files, etc.

Sheesh, I'm starting to sound like Tristan.....
hiya Tristan hows things mate

Ok then, not a nag screen, maybe the pit limited defaulted to off
Then we'll get loads of threads saying "how come I always get a penalty when other players seem stuck at 47mph?" (probably in SMS-speak).

Bearing in mind thousands of players have managed so far without confusion, I think it's safe to say it's fine as it is. Lets not pander to stupid people - that's what NFS, GT and consoles were created for.

Edit: Things are good thanks. Long time no see... Any trackdays coming up at Snett?
Next year now
Ohok. Trying to get one in November in the S1 Exige 190 we've just bought...

To stay on topic, why not have one of the first training lessons dedicated to things like this. A mini-tutorial about how to play, and what does what. Would go through F9-11, shortcuts (shift-P), removing hud (shift-f), cycling names/connections list, sending/receiving setups etc.

That way it's REALLY obvious to beginners, and not even remotely intrusive to 'veterans'.

Sounds good to me
Add a pit exit licence test, but when we get the radios maybe a "switch of your pit limiter" message might help ...

At one job I had we used foam ear plugs. I kid you not, the package warning said, "may cause difficulty breathing if caught in windpipe."
