Will LFS work on this computer?
I will upgrade a little my old computer, and I need to know, if LFS will work on it.

CPU is 1200 Mhz Intel Celeron, 512 MB of SDRAM, ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB (AGP). I have 19" LCD, but I don't need bling bling effects and other crap graphic, just a normal play.

can't you just try it by downloading the demo?

It should work, although probably not that well in a full grid
Graphics card is sufficient for low res play (I used to play LFS on a 9200) but that CPU is weaker than what I had at the time. Agree with Jakg, it's always simple to install the demo on it to find out for sure.
Where did I mention that I have this computer now? I have 1200 Mhz, 256 MB of RAM and Geforce 2 64 MB, and it doesn't works well.

@Bob Smith: How many FPSs and on what setting?
I ran LFS at 1024x768 and got about 30 to 40fps on my own, if memory serves. The CPU was an Athlon XP 1700 (1.46GHz) though. It too had 256MB of RAM. I think the version back then was 0.3 something, which was reasonably easier on the graphics though, such a system would likely struggle more with an up-to-date version.
You'll do fine. I have less memory, and WAYYY worse graphics card and I can still scrape double digit frames at 800x600 (with low-res textures of course)

We shall see

I hope it will work, then I maybe buy DFP and licence

Double digit framerates means nothing. You can't play with 25 FPS or worse because you would be a hazzard to everyone else with controller lag....

All I know is, I have a Celeron 1.2 at work, though I think it is a VERY poor onboard gfx chip and I can't even get a single player replay to run with only 1 car. I use to be able to watch replays at very low framerates (~15 FPS) way back in the beginnings of S2 (0.5L demo), but things have changed since then and LFS no longer runs at all on that PC.
^I'd dream to have a steady 25+ fps. I'm usually good decent laptimes even down in the 10-15 frame range, I'm not too picky. And yes, I've noticed that too, with every patch, and every update, my framerate dips further and further. But I still don't understand how some people bitch and moan about running 40~fps at the highest res...

I'm sort of curious as to HOW MUCH of a bottle neck an older Celeron actually is. I've been thinking of slapping on an AGP 6600GT and turning this comp into 'my bedroom' machine, but only if I'll actually get a noticable frame increase (I know I'll still be killed at the grid, but that's not an issue)

That was fixed a few patches back. The controller is no longer polled at the graphics frame rate.

I think a graphics card would help, but not as much as a new processor. If you can get a card for cheap enough it would be worth it, I think.
anything over 30fps is all the same to me...and anything over 20, i won't complain, 10fps, i can play in, normally what i get with full AA + AF on a full grid on my laptop, and anything below 10fps, ive nevevr got...

But, i dont think that computer will really be able to play LFS that nicely, no offence the graphics card is, quite interesting, maybe you could spend £30 for a 7600GT, my cousin has one of those in his laptop, and it plays LFS at 80fps on full grid, full AA etc. and 230fps max on single player, but that has a core 2 duo T----, and 2Gb of RAM...

I doubt that you can get a 7600GT for £30, or that it will fit in a PC with only a PCI slot, or that his PSU will cope. Oh yeah, and it will be masively bottleneck his CPU.

I really don't think he's in a position to upgrade, tbh...

oh yes, ok. sorry and you can get 7600s of ebuyer for £40 ex. vat
Damn, then I really need new computer for playing this

And I spent 40 € for graphic and ram

And then I see on some sites from America or anywhere else, what would I get for 800 €. Very, very good computer, which you need too pay over 1000 € in our country. Damn!
