Just installed the new Opera 9.5 Beta, and it's looking damn fast.
Found some numbers here that seem to agree with that, too. General page loading times down, and stress tests handled with relative ease. Please note that as with all numbers like that real world usage will be restricted by the time it takes to download the pages

First time i've used Opera (posting from it right now), but it's bloody quick - if only i could get AdBlock and ViewMyCurrency for it... :'(

Jakg, there's a built in content blocker.... just that you have to dig up a config file that will block most banners. Or you can do it manually site by site (which gets a bit annoying).

Only problem: It doesn't load the page again if it's still in the cache... For most sites, that's ok, but not if you're browsing a large, fast paced forum like this one...

I kinda like it that way. Much quicker to go back and forth. And it is possible to manually refresh the page with F5 or ctrl+R. Or what do you mean?

Is there an Opera equivalent to ctrl-enter and shift-enter in Firefox?

EDIT: Tested, I don´t like it

There are things I like about Opera a lot, but the functionality is lacking compared to Firefox for me.

you mean for entering passwords? Ctrg+enter works

only question that i have...how can i import my session from my "old" opera?
i mean, i could just copy/paste every site but id rather do it the right way

Hmm where is the web developer tool bar, the realtime tidy validator, the noscript plugin? And even more important: no portableApps version... so you cant carry the whole browser with all settings and bookmarks on a usb stick. Couldnt live without that anymore

overall a good mainstream end user-oriented browser

nothing for a serious web developer though (well, for testing you must have it of course)

I don't know how good they are from personal experience but a mate of mine was raving on about them like they're the best thing since sliced bread.

I don't know how this compares to the Firefox web dev toolbar, but there is 'Handy Menu' for opera - http://wiki.zdyx.org/Opera:en:HandyMenu but I'm not sure if there is a noscript equivalent for Opera.

There is Opera-USB for portability http://www.opera-usb.com/ but it's not up to 9.5 yet.

It loads somewhat slower then because it has to figure out whether it's .net or .com or whatever. I don't think there's an equivalent though. Doesn't take that long to type manually. I really like the search keyword btw.

The more foolproof version is to create a bookmark and then enter its name.

Not really because it works in a different way. Opera does a DNS lookup for each TLD (takes time to query) whereas in Firefox the shortcut just adds the rest without lookups (faster, more convenient).
