Round 1 Cutting question.
The Turn 1 at FE2R is notorious for cutting.

All that have been on the server these past weeks have run an adopted layout to ensure that it is clear who is cutting and who is not.

I am writing this post to clarify the situation.

In Qualifying i am thinking about using a modified layout which icludes a marshalls post behind the tyres.

effectively what this does - if you run through the tyres and cut (or with the tyres missing run straight across and cut deliberately) it will automaticaly spectate you.

Do people think this is a good or bad decision? It will stop cutters, but also specatate cars which have gone wide and may cause accidents by coming back onto the circuit?

In the race we will not have a marshalls post installed.

Dru.
Bad during race good during Quli.

Race of obviouse reasons of T1 usally is carnage.
Quli should be perfect as no one has a need to cut as it is only showing the ability to go straight not around. <- Think carefully about that sentance.
im a bit undecided about it during qually cos yes it stops cutting but it also penalises people for getting it only slightly wrong which during qually is a prob cos when you are pushing hard you can easilly break a bit to late and there you go spec

During a race? No, for the reasons James said.

During Quali? Yes, if you give someone an inch they WILL take it, or else they aren't going to get pole.
Scrap the idea in my opinion.

If you get it slightly wrong and you get specced, you then have to re-join, do an out lap again before being able to lay down a time. The quali session isn't long either so it can really wreck your chances.

I do agree with your points to J, but if you get it slightly wrong you arn't always left laid across the track like a wounded tiger. Sometimes, you just tap the wall. Even if you are in a position to cause a crash, most drivers would spec anyway, to get out the way or because there car is wrecked.

Just stick to have the cones there, but no speccing.

Just my $0.02.

^^

I love the fact that people do not read posts.....
I read it...I assumed you would know I was talking about quali and not the race, so I didnt say it
i see what your sayin looney tbo if that is what is going to be there i have no problem i was just making a small point cos you asked (the last bit was for dru)
I'm not sure about this either. I understand the reasons behind it but I just don't like schemes that detract from any realism like this teleport type system. Anyhow, I thought we were having real marshalls to guard that corner.
Yes, Big butz will be watching you!

And I can clearly see why someone cuts, if someone gets an advantage or not by cutting. During the race me and Owen are going to spec the whole field, same with replay. You can be sure that everyone who cuts deliberately will be severely punished, so don't you guys dare to even think about cutting:detective!

I like BIG BUTZ and I cannot lie. So maybe he can turn the other eye
Yea, some chance, nobody will get away with this trick when der strictButz is on watch and he can't be bought either I know as I tried and I'm now missing a finger - ouch, he can so be touchy a times. I forgive him though coz I have some left
If someone will be spectating T1, then that sounds reasonable to me, provided 2 things happen after that.
1) The person who cut is told to abandon that lap and keep clear of those around them who are on a quick lap
2) The person told actually follows those instructions.

Its seemed to me during races people dont give a crap if they cut, they carry on regardless knowing damn well they've ploughed through there. Im all in favour of a more forceful method of teaching people to learn how to get round a track, and if that means people teleport to spectator then thats fine by me. I spent time learning how to get round the track without cutting, but some just turn into the corner and keep it nailed down regardless. Even when ive lost control of the car its not that hard to keep it within the track limits, you use the other pedal, it helps slow you down so you dont need to break the rules.
We'll see how it works out tonight and we should then have a better idea of what might work best. I'm not that concerned about which method is chosen. I'd just prefer the most realistic way but, at the end of the day, whatever gets the job done best is what's important. At least we all agree that it needs to be done.
