asphalt temperature, what u think ?
if its hot u getting better grip, cold loosing it smthing like that. And soft/hard tyres wearing different..
SRY FOR MINE AWFULly english
Does the ideal line really get hotter?? And i think ambient and track temperature will be added with weather. Ambient temperature would also affect brake and engine cooldown - the hotter it is, the more likely to blow your engine or something.
With a large field on a small track, it would make sense that the ideal line might end up a couple of degrees warmer (complete guess as to the increase). The question is; is it worth simulating?
In time, everything that affects the racing is worth simulating . The real question is, is it worth worrying about simulating this when there are so many other bigger factors to simulate.
Bob IMO it's not worth it. Not now. Maybe when that 80 core behemot from Intel is operational and in 75% of all rigs, yes. We will have the computing power for totaly realistic damage then too so yeah. If it's real naturally. MoE on Kyoto Long or Aston GP wouldn't raise the temp one bit i'd say. The cars would be just too far appart. Put 32 GTRs or BF1s on FE club, that's a different story
It would not affect grip levels directly - why should it?
Rubber buildup affects the grip, but higher track temperature would only affect the - who would've guessed it - tyre temperature. Of course the tyre temp then influences the available grip, but saying higher temp = higher grip is BS. It could also mean the opposite; your already overheated tyres have less chance to cool down.
But if there is rubber laid down on the track (when that is implemented), then that section of track would have grip that varied depending on the track temp
------------------------
FWIW, I think that the small differences in temp caused by racing would be insignificant compared with the difference between shaded and sunny parts of the track on a hot summer day ?... the South City combos would change depending on the sun and the time of day - cool ... hotlappers would have to try out different setups for different times before deciding which time of day was fastest for that combo...
What would be really cool is if the time of day was not editable. On single player, it was taken from your locality and the system clock, for online games it would be taken from the locality and time of the server. (I guess one day in the future, it would be possible to synchronize not just time of day but weather conditions )... that would surely add to the immersion factor.)
Though I can agree with you on the weather at the server location, I'd have to say no to the time. Most folks have a certain time that they "play PC games" at and probably would not like driving strictly night racing all the time because they have families, jobs, school, or other life obligations.
Actually, lower track tempratures help to provide more grip, and on some tracks, rediculously hot track tempratures bring up the oil in the track and reduce grip, as well as promoting overheated tires.
+1 for the idea.
