So, G25 after a year... user opinions
So, it's been more than a year (i think) since G25 arived, so i wanted to know peoples opinions now after a longer period, how is the quality, what has broken, i'm mostly interested in pedals, since this freakin Momo pedals are driving me crazy! Are the G25 pedals better, have you suffered those older problems, like you are holding the throttle but the pedal itself releases some of it, so you end up driving half a second slower per lap than you actually can? .. That started happening on my Momo so i'm really fed up with DXTweak'ing and all, and considering maybe buying G25..
The G25 is fantastic for the money.

Nothing on mine has broken or malfunctioned in any way, and it's had plenty of use that's for sure. The pedals are liquid smooth and react with great precision. No complaints about the shifter really; it serves it's purpose just fine. The FFB is still great and the wheel feels great and still smells like leather.
Lovin' it. Just wish the shifter went into the right gear more often, lol. It's been a year and I still have trouble going into 5th, lol.
Sorry, i should've make it clear, i would like opinions of people who actually used it for almost a year or longer...
Had mine since March. All is well, although I have a bad habit of pulling the wheel of the table in moments of extremes . The wheel could do with some extra buttons, no idea why they've only fitted two. All in all high quality wheel. The force feedback is very impressive with LFS and NKpro, although with rfactor, GTR2 and infact every other sim i've got it takes a fair bit of 'fiddling' with settings to get the response I would like....meh....I don't care because I only ever play LFS now

Pedals - I've had no problems with them, they are pretty robust and it would take some effort to break them I think. Throttle control is a pleasure and very similar to real life, clutch control is not too bad, with a real life clutch it is easier to feel the bite though.

'H' shifter, although working well, is a bit flimsy and feels like a 'game' controller rather than a gear stick. This is the only let down really, although it is fit for purpose.

For the price the G25 is a really impressive piece of kit and takes sim racimg to a new level for me.

Damn, OK I haven't had mine a year, but must have driven over 40k miles with it.

(OK Logitech I expect my £100 check in the post soon)
Not had mine a year only ~ 10 months or so but i wil post anyway.

Can't say anything that hasn't been said. The shifter does seem a bit flimsy but the wheel and pedals top notch. Buttons is a problem as i was used to my dfp with buttons galore on the wheel but soon got used to not having them. All in all cost, IMO, a fiar chuck of money for a game controller but it is a very good wheel.
Thanks guys, so the pedals are totally oposite of that shi* they've been putting in their previous wheels? They look like a quality product..
I just can't believe that these freakin' MOMO pedals are worse than on a FF GP wheel, i mean, it's twice the price!?
Don't know, G25 isn't exactly cheap and i only had Momo just over a year, but i'm really not too good with fixing things, when i opened up the pedals it took me a day to realize where to put everything back, and there was greece inside like i killed a pig.. I don't know how to fix them, so i will probably end up bying a G25.. what do you guys suggest?

1. If you're happy with your momo wheel, can't you just buy bespoke pedals? or maybe some there are some on ebay people could be selling perhaps because their wheel is burst or something.

2. If you can afford it just buy the G25 for goodness sake, because you know that a) You want too, b) You're going to anyway.

3. Get someone to fix your pedals, maybe a friend?, Local PC repair shop man?

It is likely that if you get a G25 you will be slower than you are now, initially anyway

Good luck with your decision

I sounded like some rich spoiled kid in my last post, i'm not by any means i'm just lazy..
I have a coleague at work who is an electrician, so i will get my pedals to work tomorrow and try to sort them out with him.. Some contact spray magic and some tape on the pedal shafts...
But nevermind this, keep those G25 opinions coming..
i have g25 for more than a year, the only problem i have sometimes, that the right button on the wheel not working(very rare)
Other than that everything works fine,no problems.Defenetly worth the money.+u can work as hard as in the gym with 200 % FF lol
I've had mine for ten months. Wheel and pedals are great for that price. Two FF motors make the wheel turn faster than MOMO Racing I used to have. Also there is no clap, that little emptiness, when changing steering direction. Brake pedal is nicely stiff and others have good sensitivy.

My shifter lost it's reverse two months ago. I returned wheel to retailer and after a month got brand new gear, which seems to be new revision. Missed some league races, but new set is even than before. Shifter doesn't make such a strong click sound when changing gears and wheel is now more quiet. Old one used to make more sound when turning left with little or no resistance.

Very nice wheel over-all. Shifter is little light and plastic, but it does the job well.
I've had mine for exactly a year, I forgot to mention that.

Yes the pedals are the opposite, and you can tell the second you pull them out of the box.

yes the shifter is "gamey", but it works, I've rarely missed a shift - but it IS a game controller .
Short version
Was awesome when I got it and still is.

Long version
Very nice force feedback overall, though I have three negative points/observations:
1) Notchy feel when rotating while high forces are acting on the wheel
2) Rotates fast, but still too slow to keep up with the ingame wheel at > 270° rotation
3) Can get rather loud when having to rotate the wheel against the FF direction
Nevertheless, the FF is superb. There surely is better out there, but not for that price.

The pedals are very nice and sturdy, providing good precision without any calibration problems whatsoever. The strong resistance of the brake pedal might take a little getting used to, though. Ergonomics are a question too; heel-toeing might be a bit awkward and uncomfortable, depending on the size and shape of your feet. Another thing I noticed was that the default angle of the pedals was too steep for me and caused cramps, but it was easily fixed by stuffing something under the front part of the pedal base.

The wheel itself is of very high quality, paddles & buttons are working without problems, though it could use some more buttons on the wheel. Some people reported problems with the paddles, where quickly letting go of one could activate the other (the paddles are one connected metal piece), but on my wheel I cannot even get it close to swinging back far enough for that to happen. The leather is well made and nice to grip, but a bit of a bitch to clean.

The shifter works well too, after you get over the fact that it is very light, flimsy and not really H-gated at all. It is probably the part of the wheel that disappoints most when you first try it, but its not really *that* bad. The clicking is a bit annoying, but then again I have an old revision and supposedly the clicking is reduced in the newer ones. My shifter also already suffered from reverse gear failure, though it was easy to fix with a bit soldering action (a cable broke due to fatigue).

Overall I'd give it an 8/10 score by the features themselves, upped to a 9.5/10 score when taking the price into account. There's simply no better bang for the buck on the FF wheel market.
Agree with everything Mr. XP just said ^^

I think the pedal angle issue is more of a problem of how high the typical office chair is, it is probably well suited to a race seat.

I've had mine about 13 or so months now, although it's sad to say I've still done way less miles with this controller than any other. Life too damn busy all the time. Bah. /OT

I'll just add, that with long/soft carpet, everytime I press the brake pedal, the whole pedal units rocks slightly and slowly moves backwards away from you. With the paper thin carpet I used to have, it never budged an inch.
I'm just going to echo the above comments, I pre-ordered mine last year, and its had plenty of use over the last year or so - not just by me, a few mates have had a go on it, and are far rougher on the inputs than me, and it still feels new to use. The pedals are flawless and just as precise as day 1, the wheel itself still feels brilliant to use, and the gearshifter - not the best design ever, but it seems to last well, no faults to speak of.
Thanks guys... my oh my, am i tempted to buy.. (that actually rhimes? )
I will try and fix the Momo pedals, but if the problems arise again i will probably go with the G25, i am so glad to hear that the pedals are awesome, i don't really care for the "H" shifter, i would probably use it only for show.. Maybe there will be some new year's price drops, but i doub it, this is Serbia after all..
I've had mine about 8 months, but i'll still comment

Shifter
When you first have a go with this, it does seem abit flimsy and weak. In actual fact, the shifter is strong, but older versions have had problems with the reverse. I also experienced this so i rang logitech. They are known for there excellent customer service, and this shown when i called them. All they asked was for me to send the whole G25 (pedals, shifter and wheel) to one of there depots in worcester. I sent it away on a monday, recieved an e-mail on thursday saying that they had recieved the wheel and then on friday, i recieved a brand new whole set. Luckily for me, i recieved the revised version. The wheel is quieter and the shifter is almost silent and the paddles are (apparently) revised too in someway or another, although i cannot see any difference from my previous version. All in all, the shifter is abit flimsy when first using it, but you soon get used to it. It does provide alot more entertainment and enjoyment if your racing on LFS or cruising on TDU.

Pedals
I can describe these in one word. AMAZING!! There are VERY precise, with great response and ease of use. AS i am sure you know, they have different levels of resistance to simulate a real car, and even though this is hard to simulate, they have done it very well with the clutch especially. As said before, heel and toe can be difficult but for me, its no problem and i have pretty big feet (size 11 UK). The only complaint i have about the pedals is that if you use them on wood, or a thick pile carpet, they can slip away abit but thats something you would expect anyway :/
Overall, very good pedals with great precision and control

Wheel
Easily the most impressive piece of the G25. Great feel (and smell ) and comfort. The FFB on this wheel is SUBLIME and very strong! After using the G25 on 200% ffb for a month, you will have arms like tree trunks . Here are my opinions on 3 of the most common car racing games/sims i play with my wheel.
  • RACE07 - After abit of time fiddling about with the profiler and ingame options, i had a quick blast. The combo is the 06' BMW 3-series touring car at silverstone. Entering a corner and hitting the rumble strips, the FFB is'nt a hell of alot accurate, but it is nice and does the right "type" of rumble and FFB at the right places. The wheel does fight against me nicely, and overall provides a nice drive and feel through my wheel. 7/10
  • Test Drive Unlimited - After its all set up, i decide to give my Ferrari F40 a blast. Im driving in "hardcore" mode. Obviously, we all know TDU is'nt a sim (not even close) but it does offer a drip of realism. Chucking the car into a corner, i notice the FFB does'nt fight against me much. It just stiffens up the wheel instead of trying to steer into the slide. Going into a drift, the FFB comes into play. It starts to "rumble" and acts more like it should with it fighting against me as i slide about. The only thing i dislike is no FFB when driving along in a straight line. No "feel" of the road like most car games/sims. 5/10
  • LFS - Relatively easy to set up, i give it a quick test. Driving the car out of the pit garage (ffb at 45% in game, 101% in profiler) i notice straight away that the wheel is already offering resistance. I decide to stop and see how the wheel acts in "launching". AS i build up the revs and realese the car into a launch, i notice the front go lighter which is something you would expect in a FR car. Coming into a corner, the FFB is delivered smoothly and efficiently with the wheel offering some resistance but not too much so its unrealistic. Taking the car into a drift, the wheel instantly trys to spin to the other side. Holding it there, you notice the wheel jumping about as you slide over the bumps and rumble strips. Ah! the rumble strips! One thing i love about the FFB in LFS. The rumble strip FFB acts nicely. The ammount of "FFB/Rumble" you get from driving over them all depends on what your steering angle is, how fast/slow you are going and what angle your car is at when travelling over the strips. As from experience, i notice the FFB is pretty on parr to real life, with the wheel taking it all nicely without any problems. 9/10
All in all, this wheel is a great piece of kit especially once you look at the price. As said above you may as well buy it now because your going to in the future sometime anyway, so why not experience it now?

Hope this helped in some way or another.

Thanks for reading
I've had mine for about 7 months and mine has been fine so far, never needed to replace so far either. I have nothing to recommend to keep it in working order, as I've never cleaned it and it does go through some abuse. I let my other 13-14 year old friends with no driving experience play, and they just abuse the wheel. I've heard the wheel click when turning hard and everything yet mine keeps on trucking. Just use it like a regular wheel and you'll be fine.
Im buying a new g25 when i get payed next friday,, Ive finally caved in

Couple of questions im buying it from OCUK (overlockers.co.uk) Is there anyway i can find out if its a new revision ???
How can i tell. I don't want to spend 160 quid and end up with one of the older models.

Also do all G25 come with Rfactor ?
#20 - Jakg
They come with the rFactor Demo.

£160 is a little much though - aren't they now £140 + P&P...?
Quote from Jakg :They come with the rFactor Demo.

And an old version at that; includes a Logitech skin and default profile name "G25". It's a useless disc.
Preordered.

Used heavily for a few months. Not used as often now.

Not one glitch or problem.

Steering lovely, and the closest thing to a real wheel yet.

Pedals still shit - this time in terms of layout. Having 6 metres between brake and throttle is daft. Throttle too soft, brake too soft, clutch too soft. Still movement based rather than pressure.

Not enough buttons on the steering wheel.

Wires too short to go round/behind desks easily

Shifter too weakly sprung

Leather stitching on wheel hard on thumbs

Other than that, REALLY good.

And DESPITE all that, absolutely worth every single penny. If they sold it without pedals (and you used a decent set, e.g. ECCI with a clutch) then it would be even better value for money. Shame my ECCI don't have a clutch, and I can't afford (or justify the expense) of getting one as an addon.

Good review Tristan. I have not tried any bespoke pedal sets, wheels or shifter so I have nothing for comparison with the G25. I suppose the G25 pedals need to be softer sprung so that they will also also appeal to the younger player, being that the G25 is Mass market. Logitech should make the pedal springs adjustable at least. An Alacantra wheel would also be nicer . Bah while I'm at it I'll have a Buggati Veyron...
Does anyone know whether the G25 is 'limited edition'? I've read on some websites that it is.... or is that a lie?

Oh and will it work with a right hand drive setup? (gear lever on left)
The gear lever is a seperate unit. Mount it on the left, on the right, on top of your head or in the next room. So long as you can reach it you can change gear.
