How NOT to undo a wheel nut!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7091904.stm

Ok, so I was just browsing the bbc news website when I have come across this article. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I thought it was a joke at first but no..... it really happened.

There are some weird and crazy people out there (in possession of guns)

Crazy stuff!

mad
complete and udder DUMBASS!!!!
lol,he never heard of the good ol' " Long shallow metal tube attached to the wrench and a hammer " method ? Works every time.
I saw that this morning and nearly wet myself laughing.
Listen to the NRA guys: Guns don't kill people, changing tyres does
Well what else do American's use their guns for? More productive than killing people (although less so if you kill yourself in the process).
Quote from Bob Smith :Well what else do American's use their guns for?

Putting speed holes in cars, for one.
Opening locked doors when they leave their keys on the hook..?
Quote :Frustrated by the one remaining nut which refused to budge, he resorted to fire power in an effort to shift it

People should be more patient...
Hahah, this sounds like the sort of thing we have in far too many movies here... when people blow away locks with their guns. The fact that he used a shotgun at point blank range, goes to show he really did not know what he was doing, and should not own a gun.

There are smart gun owners in America (namely officers & hunters), and then there are these guys

I take it we're excluding Dick Cheney from the "hunters" generalisation.
What a mug lol.. people will never learn.
Wow, did someone skip elementary school? (2 weeks on a lugnut? He was determined - but its called a phone and mechanic (or friends) if you are having that much trouble with things...
Quote from thisnameistaken :I take it we're excluding Dick Cheney from the "hunters" generalisation.

Not at all a smart hunter you see . But I am referring to people that know how-to use a gun safely (especially around oneself or a group of people), and don't just go whipping one out to take off a lug nut.

Cheney was hunting quail too... a pretty pointless bird to shoot at. Fast, small, and all you do is spray and pray in hopes you kill one.... and I bet Cheney did exactly that. Old Man Kansas sure did get a good one in the face

hehehe.. i laughed lots when i read this earlier today
Yeah me too, I was eating my breakfast at the time and nearly choked to death due to sheer laughter!

I don't actually know what he thought he would achieve. How the feck can you shoot a nut free with a gun let alone a shotgun.

The more i think about it and try to imagine how exactly that would work the more I find myself gasping in disbelief at some people's stupidity.

Did have a choking chuckle over it though.

mad

btw... did any one read this?

WTF????
even though it is totally unrelated to the thread...
Hehe, you'd think if it was a 'common' mistake, people would either make sure the safety is on, or better still, just keep the damn gun in your hand. How many spare hands do you need to pick up a pheasant anyway?
Anybody who leaves a loaded gun is an idiot, anybody who leaves a loaded gun not pointing in a safe direction is more of an idiot and anyone who then doesn't put the safety on is more of an idiot, that's three really really massive gun safety points you've got to miss before you can be shot by your dog. Then there's the issue of why did you leave your gun loaded (and obviously made ready as well if applicable) simply unloading a rifle or breaking a shotgun is the only responsible thing to do if your going to leave your gun unattended
And this is why America is an awesome place to live if you're a surgeon. Morons, beer, and firearms.
Lots of negativity about this guy in this thread! I think he deserves some credit for being innovative. Expect his book "101 things to do with a shotgun" to hit the shelves in the Spring.
I'd love to see what happens if his engine's head gasket needed replacing
omg, will we ever know if he gets the nut off?
Quote from kiss me :omg, will we ever know if he gets the nut off?

Last thing I heard he was looking for a bigger gun
Quote from Michael Denham :Lots of negativity about this guy in this thread! I think he deserves some credit for being innovative. Expect his book "101 things to do with a shotgun" to hit the shelves in the Spring.

No, anyone who uses a shotgun to try and remove a lug nut deserves no credit. It is the most stupid thing I have ever heard of, as it'll just damage the wheel and everything in the general area.
And anyone who thought it was Brits who best understood sarcasm and irony, will no doubt have a wry smile at the irony of this.
