LFS Records - League Racing
Everytime we load LFS and race in multi, single or just hotlapping, do the records of what happened get recorded?

The reason I ask is that I run in the XR Challenge cup with SCORE. 9/10 times I dont get to turn any laps besides the race practice and qualifying sessions for each round, which Im quite content with.

Not that Im making excuses for my not doing so well in the league, but I was thinking of a league that if LFS keeps track of every time you do any laps in any mode, the league restricts any extra practice time besides those designated by the league. Any other practice that racer is making will result in a penalty on the race start grid - dead last.

I dont know about F1, havent followed it in years, but in MotoGP all the teams travel to the same track to test. With that in mind, Id like to see an LFS league like the above if there already isnt one using that format.

Just an idea.

NOTE: yes, this would take away from those who race LFS religiously, this is for those that dont but love to race when they can and with a more real world format.
This would be a nice idea IMO but it's impossible.

Only the multiplayer races get recorded. You could still do as many single-player laps as you want.

So if you want to do a league like this you would have to really trust the participants not to drive offline.
I had a feeling that was the case but wanted to make sure; it would make for a more interesting league format.
only way to get around this is probably to choose the track at random right before the race. people may still know the track but they wouldn't be able to practice on it for a week straight without properly guessing which track it was going to be.
You could run a league with a AUTOX layout... so no one knows what it will look like pre race. Can that work?
I have thought of this before too. One of my problems is that I can't practice enough. I can't tweak my sets to the n'th degree for each track, I just don't have the time.

It would be fun to have a league where you are restricted to testing for only an hour or two for every race. That way, you have to be very diligent about your testing and try and get the most out of it. Then, come race time, it is a bit more evened out. Of course, the best drivers will still win, I would still be mid-pack. But I think it adds another dimension to the game.

However, you would have to have a system that basically policed you when you were not racing online. Of course, LFS checks into the master server every time you start up to verify your license. I am sure a system could be put into place to monitor this. However, it would be easy to get around in a number of ways, so cheaters could still get away with it.

So, the closest thing I have seen so far is what we are doing in the LOTA mini-series we are running right now. There are 6 possible tracks to use and the track is picked randomly just prior to the race. Then we practice for 25 minutes, qualify, then race. If you have tons of time, you could develop perfect sets for all the tracks, but most people are not doing that. It is more fun to "run what you 'brung' " so to speak.
Before S2 was launched, I had hoped they would launch the new tracks and cars in this way, with a special mini-series on the day that you could qualify for prior to the event. It would be great for S3, or any other new tracks we might be blessed with, but I don't see it happening officially since it would be extra workload, and it's not easy to do unofficially unless you know exactly when patch XYZ will be launched.
Maybe this thread should be moved to the "Improvements" section. It would add an entirely new element to LFS and league racing.
The series Hallen refers to is the LOTA's Street Stock Cup with the XFG/XRG combo. It runs on Thurs. nights at 9:30PM EST. Everyone that can make that time is welcome. This Thurs. the series is off due to the holiday in the US, but will resume next Thurs. for the last 3 races. We've had a good response to it and are pondering it become a regular fixture series.

didn't LOTA also do an MRT league with autocross layouts where no one saw the track before race day? i think that's the only real way to put everyone on an even playing field.
MotorDirex, Stay tuned to the STCC. I think you may find next season appealing =)
