Just destroyed the first AA gun emplacement...decided to take the pretty boat moored conveniently at the jetty...and what pillock left them bloody MINES there!!!!!!
Not hardcore enuff to play on delta difficulty...medium is hard enough for me...still getting pwned every five minutes..
As the guy said, ammo IS in short supply...usual tactic is...creep up in stealth, take out guy, nick ammo...creep up on next guy...
Best bit so far? picking up a KPA grunt in stealth mode...and throwing him off a cliff
SPOILER:
Watch out for when the VTOL is coming to pick you up...bloody KPA got Nano Suits too...and they are BLOODY difficult to take out...hint: take them one at a time and save after each one!
While i do believe that Crysis is a great game, that kind of games really don't apeal to me, hearing the comments from the enemy like "i seee youuu", "i gotta bullet with your name on it" and other kidy comments like in Far Cry, really spoil it for me.. and it needs a monster PC to play it in Very high (where the game really shines) and even then you don't get a good frame rate...
What i saw from the screenshots, the water looks bloody real! and those rocks and forest, really impressive.. but like i said, i would get bored in that kind of enviroment just like i did in Far Cry, while on the other hand Call of Duty 4 is now on the top 3 list of my favorite games! That's how you make an action game!
Sooner the better Jack...its bleeding AWESOME!!!
So far, its as gripping as HL2, more action than you need, and jawdroppingly gorgeous! (when you time to admire the scenery that is!)
When the fastmovers fly low over your head, you will prolly find yourself instinctively ducking...I did!
Agree that you need a Ninja PC to play it full bells and whistles, but even at med/high settings it is very well done, and you get a good framerate too...
As for the scenery, there are lots of times when the pretty bushes are more than eyecandy, you need them just to stay alive...
Crysis is not a Messiah game, but compared to other current 3D shooters (Halo 3, HL2 E2, Bioshock, COD4) it just takes the bar and snaps it in two.
I would have liked more violence and gibs on delta difficulty, but hey...
Fortunately Crytek seems to have matured from Far Cry. At least on the hardcore mode the enemies speak only Korean so I have no idea whether the kiddie comments still apply.
CoD4 is great, and kept me busy for literally one night, then I completed it. An epic game, but £30 for 4 hours of single player? I don't think so. Can anyone say linear?
£25s worth of Crysis has kept me amused for hours just interacting with game in so many different ways. It's definately the best fps I've played all year (from the likes of CoD4, Bioshock (which I loved) etc). Might get another GTS cheap for xmas, then I'll be laughing
Stupid unrealistic tunnel run with ton of eye candy.
Ok, maybe it just does not appeal to me, I still prefer Operation Flashpoint if I need to shoot something, nothing better than spending few hours face in mud finding way to eliminate camp of enemies
But Crysis has indeed pretty eye candy when you turn that bloom/eye burner effects off.
well its not that great ... the story is about a cliche as it gets the combat is largely repetitive and the endgame is mostly a selection of various levels of unfairness (even on easy)
not to mention that if you expect some amazing ending sequence your in for one giant kick in the balls
I just tried the demo again and to be honest it plays like ass. Not sure what it is... It feels like there's a huge delay between input and screen response (I do have one of those fallacious "ZOMG! 2ms Response Time!" monitors which might be partly to blame, but I get along fine with BF2 or TF2 and all other games that end in "F2"). It makes firing at foreign people difficult and annoying.
And all the stupid blur effects piss me off more than I can even describe.
I tried Crysis and yes it looks pretty amazing.. However, even at some weird res of only 900x600 ish, it did not run smoothly (probably as low as 30fps in places) on...
I agree It may be hard with rifles and pistols, but with shotgun it's easy!
@JTbo
Well, Crysis stupid Tunnel run? Messed something up with Doom 3?
I like how Crysis has options of how every person wants to play, me personally want to take it slow and set myself comfy inside the bush at top of the hill and zooming in with my sniper scope.
I just compare it to best shooting game I know, Operation Flashpoint and comparison is rather pointless as Flashpoint own 10-0 in every aspect that is important to me, gfx is not and if you exclude that you have your average not so special shooting game that has few nice ideas, but really worn and stupid idea
That is of course only realism freak's opinion, those who enjoy games like Half Life etc. surely might like it, but those kind of games are really not very interesting.
Battlefield is perhaps furthest I can go, but even in that I need to use reality mod, if I shoot someone with rifle, I'm pretty sure he should not continue running at same speed.
At least icy snowball thrown to strategic point will slow running, I believe bullet should do it too then?
Freedom then is quite illusion in Crysis, you have to go certain route, of course they have done bit better job masking it to be fully free, but if you start looking it then you have to follow certain path.
In Flashpoint, I can go around island and attack to enemy from completely opposite direction if I see that better option, oh yes and when I shoot a guy he usually stops or at least slows down and shoots, so inaccurately that they are not too big risk after that
Doom games I disliked so much that I hardly ever played them, I think Quake games were quite same thing as well almost any shooting game from first person view.
OFP/Arma vs Crysis... I wouldn't go there, as you're talking about two different worlds.
It's like comparing Falcon 4.0/Steel Beasts to LFS. Both are simulators but F4.0/SB makes LFS look like kindergarden stuff...which it obviously isn't... (Everyone ignore Lfsn00b.)
But you don't shoot in LFS, you do in OFP and Crysis
Of course those are different worlds, but I would say Crysis is like NFS and OFP is more like LFS. Also getting Crysis level graphics for OFP 2 would be dream of quite many I believe?
not talking about crysis here as a better example but ofp is pretty far down the no fun road
"and lastly its fun ... remember that? fun? what we used to have before gaming felt like a second job"
where on the charmap would scawen victor and eric be then?
Fun is certainly different thing for different people, let me tell one example:
Company party, people drink alcohol, be noisy and feel bad next day, some say it is fun, I can't understand why on earth someone would do such things
For me Crysis starts to feel work quite quickly. Sometimes I play this to have fun
I feel that they should done Crysis with bit different idea and certainly it would be great if there actually would been finally challenge made with something else than enemies that take zillion bullets without slowing down
But I guess that would been too challenging for teens (which I think is main targets for such product).
Just finished the game and I have to say (as has been said before) it's an awful ending. It seems they ran out of good ideas as you go into the cave. From there on in its just endless repeated button bashing with the shotgun. Boring and annoying.
Everything from the VTOL flying onwards felt boring and tedious to me. A shame because the game was so good before then.
Best ending to a recent game for me has to be CoD4, in comparison Crysis is god awful. Another classic shoot the shit out of it until it dies ending. Oh well.
