What is thanksgiving for? I mean Christmas is perfect for corporate greed, New Years alcoholism, Easter chocolate gluttony, so where does it fit in?

The best thing about Thanksgiving in the states is that you don't get ANY Christmas crap until after Thanksgiving is over. None of this September-starting toy advertising on CBBC crap! That in itself makes Thanksgiving the best holiday in the world, as far as I'm concerned!

Thanksgiving is all about eating as much Turkey as possible, then sitting in front of the TV, unbuckling and unzipping your pants (because they suddenly are too small) and watching the football game. At least, that's what it's for in the U.S.

In Canada it's about getting together as a family, giving thanks for all you have in life, and gorging on delicious bird meat. Screw football!

[EDIT] Oh yes, it's also an excuse to have a day off work. That's really the only reason to have a holiday.

Indeed, screw football! Penguins vs. Senators, 6-5 Pens in the shootout. Malone has been skating phenomenal as of late (2 goals, 1 assist tonight), and the rest finally stepped it up as well. Pens got down 2 goals twice and battled hard to tie it up to play through overtime into the shootout. Ruutu as the 6th shooter wins it with his head-fake and through the five-hole.

It was a re-do of last year's first round play-off series. Only, this time the Penguins actually showed up to play.
