[OT] AIR/Apollo - Anyone using it?
I've been exploring Adobe AIR the past few days, and I've found it's quite a cross between 'very promising' and 'oh no'...

Has anyone else given it much thought/testing?
Lots of rude words. Personally I don't see what it gives you over existing open technology and just seems to violate the idea of not inventing stuff over and over again.
I agree that it has very limited usage, but I can see the advantages for web-based applications that want to deploy quickly and easily on a client machine... It sure isn't as brilliant as they make it sound...

That said, I am using a program called Pownce which could be a good idea, and that's developed using AIR... who knows what'll happen, I guess it depends on what they add as it gets towards a proper RC.
Forgive me, but I don't see the point of it, I think I must be missing something?
I was meant for JavaScript and HTML designers to be able to make Windows applications with there current tool set correct? Well that's all well and good, but why would you compromise your system with something that is interpreting HTML or JavaScript each second (Outside of a web browser of course)?
I was more looking towards the flash and flex/java aspects of it. The post was made after only a few short hours of working with it... and, well, next time I'm going to wait a little longer, as I've been consistently more and more shocked at the shoddiness of it - so much so, I've given up on it entirely.
