Poor FPS since using a G25? **Please help**
My system config is the same as it was, nothing changed, no viruses, no malware etc etc etc.

I have noticed that lately I am struggling with fps on the starting grid and in the early stages of a race, it seems that this started happening after I stopped using a DFP, and started using a G25.

The low FPS, is also acompannied by the G25 "flapping" left to right, almost like the low FPS affects the G25, or the G25 is causing the low FPS, either way, the wheel kicks from side to side when the FPS drop a bit.

Anyone got any ideas why this would happen?, and any ideas how to stop it happening?.

O/T - Hey Dan is this due to just lower FPS on starting grids and races on Patch X30 rather than 'lately'?
No, prior X30 (aswell as with it )
Yeah, teh FPS effects the G25, I noticed this when i had a full AI race. The low FSP causes some sort of FFB lag or something, thats what is seemed like to me.
Still having issues
Please help, anybody, it's getting close to the time when I am gonna have to give up on LFS because it simply won't run anymore without getting low FPS at times and the wheel flapping around.

The fps seem to "cycle", good-good-bad-good-good-good-bad etc etc , I have no external programs running, my system is clean, tried various drivers and driver settings, I am flumoxed......

Do u have any other USB devices plugged in?
Some lesser (mainly onboard) USB-chips cant handle the "traffic" multiple complex USB-devices throw at them and cause your pc to slow down.
Had a problem like that once with a USB-headphone and my wheel, so try unplugging any other device and see if the lag is still present.
Yes, I do, I have a mouse, USB harddrive, printer and my G25.

It's a good point, I'll try removing the printer and USB HDD.

Will just powering down the devices been enough?, or do I need to physcially remove the USB plugs from the back of the PC?
I feel for you, danowat. Good luck at getting it fixed. I don't have G25, or your problem with my MOMO, so I can't help... But good luck to you.
It's a real pisser, because it was fine before, with my DFP, used to get top notch FPS all the time.

Now it's just a bloody nightmare, I wonder if the G25 pulls "more" from the USB port than the DFP used to, and could be the reason why I am getting problems.

I wish I could afford a new PC, but I can't, I have tried turning the details down in LFS, all AA and AF is off (even though I could run it before) and it makes no difference, the fps cycling is still there......
i never found a prob tbo, i dont think its the g25, maybe try removing the profiler

All i can recommend is that you try re-installing your OS (or putting a temporary partition on it) and checking if you still get the issue...
could even be a faulty wheel, if you or someone you know has a ps2 and a dfp game, try it
I don't use the profiler.

Reinstalling the OS would be a VERY last resort, it would be a complete PITA trying to get back to where I am from a fresh install.....

Just to throw in a few ideas without detailed expaination:

reinstall
uninstall texture pack
default settings
test other controller
test other LFS version
default GPU settings
reinstall GPU driver
reinstall G25 driver
reinstall Mainboard drivers
other games
cpu throttling
power saving
overheating
background tasks
yeah try a new lfs instal
reinstall - not an option ATM
uninstall texture pack - check
default settings - check
test other controller - could try my xbox360 pad
test other LFS version - it's the same with X30, could try an earlier version
default GPU settings - check
reinstall GPU driver - check
reinstall G25 driver - will do
reinstall Mainboard drivers - check
other games - I'll have to check, haven't played anything else in yonks
cpu throttling - ? not sure what you mean by this
power saving - all off
overheating - no problems, system is water-cooled, all temps normal
background tasks - minimal tasks running.

I'll try a fresh LFS install and see if that helps.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help
Ok........

All non essential USB devices unplugged, fresh LFS install (no unlocks left ), its a slight touch better, but nothing major.

TBH, I think that the only reason I am noticing the problem at all, is because the G25 "flaps" when your fps drop below a certain level (i.e. computer under a bit of load) I reckon if I could stop it doing this, I wouldn't notice.

I reckon this is why I am noticing it, it's very probable that the low fps was there before with the DFP, but because the DFP's FFB didn't lag when the system was under load, I didn't notice.

So basically, anyway I can stop the G25 from "flapping"?, or do I really need to look at upgrading my tired old system.....
When you say "Flapping", you mean the quick 'left right left right' the wheel does when you let go of it whilst driving?
If so, just hold tight
Sorry, i have no other ideas.

Oh, and to rule out something you said earlier about the wheel sinking too much power from USB, try plugging your wheel in via a powered USB hub (ie, one with a power adaptor)

Yeah, quick left to right movement, almost like the FFB is lagging.

I'll try a powered hub.
other thing, i use the profiler and havnt felt this on my old system, try using that, it is a blessing sometimes, but can be a pita
You definately do not need a new pc, it are driver issues, i am quite sure. I had an logitech pad and there i got fps problems if i had rumble-force activated.

Even with a logitech mouse i had problems earlier. So in my opinion logitech has bad drivers.

First off all just try it with no FF activated. With my pad i helped.
Of course it is just to test if it is a problem from there. I think so.

Good luck!
Thanks, how would I go about disabling the FFB?
danowat, have you ever tried to use the profiler? and setting up the ffb correctly? cant you just disable ffb by turning it all the way down? "<" arrow iirc
or setting FFB to 'off' in the controller section. That should switch off the calculations entirely in LFS, not just prevent output.
