AI racing on YOUR layout
I have a suggest that the AI drivers can drive on YOUR layout...
Is there any MOD?
Or SOMETHING?

Sound crazy, rigth?

Answer PLZ
I doubt there is a mod because that would be almost impossible to program.

On a track there is only one path that is programed for the cars to take, but on an autocross track there can be a million different layouts. There is almost no way for the AI to follow the track, they would just drive through the barrier because in their programmed path there is no barrier in the way.

If the AI were programmed to reconize when something was in their way then they wouldn't hit much, but they would never find a perfect line.

I just thought of something... In the new test patch you can press #4 on ur keyboard and see the path that the AI are driving in the track..

So what if you make your autocross track.. THEN choose a special option that draws the AI / path line as you drive around the track. After the computer programs the AI to follow the path that you just drove and calculates the AI's car specs so it doesn't drive off the track.

This would once again be TONS of work, but it is the only way I can think of a way for the AI to drive around an autocross track.
Yeah but maybe we can put in ''Spot nr1'' Thats the first place 2 go
''Spot nr2'' ... and keep on

Like when u drive on regular track's.. hmm... half round time .. (That kind)
Might not be as hard as you think. Maybe the new racing line tool could be added to the Autocross editor to help the AI around the track
That is what I was getting at
But wouldn`t it be hard at same time?
AI would sure eat your CPU :s

It would need to calculate and be aware of the different things on the track, and aswell as finding a idle line between those. Of course there could be some way to just program the AI to be like "At Least This far Away From Object x.x M ". But again, I don`t think it would be easy, and it would probally work bad too, due to that some layouts makes it difficould to use any specifiq lines at all
I did think about it yesterday, just having the AI using the "avoid this" method of navigation, but that'd eat CPU like crazy. Hence the racing line tool suggestion.
It'd be easy enough (in theory) to add pieces of the racing line as invisible objects. Green bit here, red bit here, yellow bit here, with the rule that it must form a single complete circuit to be valid.
the best was would be for you to drive it and record the route and then it drives round several times and learns
There would be no variables for it to learn from then.
The AI might consider it faster and therefor 'better' to drive straight from A to B, ignoring the fact that it was ploughing through obstacles
they used to learn to avoid objects (We had a chicance route with tyre chicane at blackwood straight), after about 200 laps they learnt to go through it, although they were very slow when doing it!
what im saying is if the objects wer recognised, all you do is set the route it then learns by running wide , being too tight etc
