IMPORTANT: Please report pit bug here
IMPORTANT

We have recieved reports about cars that were placed somewhere on the track after a driver swap. Some cars were (for example) placed near the second split line, instead of in the pits. This would mean that one lap is not counted.

Please report WHEN and WHO, this would help me fix the tracker.

Thank you.
we got this problem at about 17.00 yesterday, when chaning drivers from P. Closset to F. Pallier
#3 - Misko
I encountered this problem (16 - Miloš Mijković). It happened when I connected to take over from Rumiko (16 - Anton Širočka) on our lap 244, as its shown in LFS. My LFS got some lag as I just connected to the server, probably as it was loading something big, and track was not drawn completely. When I took over from him I appeared at the corner just after the first split, the slow right one that connects to AS National, and the lap was still 244. So basically we lost great part of that lap.

I hope I was clear. If not, I can explain it again.
also, P. Closset get disconnected when stopping the car in pits when I took over him yesterday, and I had to join race, so the last lap was'nt count

HI!
Masterblasters had this Problem in Lap 444 when I (01 - Joachim Breme) wanted to swap with 01 - Robert Moos. I was placed into the esses before Split 2. If you want. the replay, I got it
#6 - Misko
And to avoid that problem, one just needs to leave and reconnect to the server immediately and all is fine again.
I had that problem, too. It was yesterday at about 8:30 pm (20:30) when I swapped with Danny Engels (Huskygoalie). I was set back to the sector-line of split 2!
I had this bug, too, when i changed my car with S. Link. It was at about 17.30 till 17.45 o´clock, but i don´t have a replay to review it.
I have been set somewhere in Split 1 I think and i couldn´t drive any more.
Then i disconnected and participated again.

We have decided that, the teams will not get an extra lap. They were set back (not forth) about two-third of a lap back (maximum) and that is not a full lap. The tracker was not affected by this bug.
I have already suggested, that 2/3 (or 1/3) of uncounted lap should be measured in seconds and then subtracted from the overall finish time. This would be a fair way to give teams the exact time they lost because of this bug, unlike giving them a full 1 lap which they didn't make.

However this would also change the overall standings on 3rd place, so I suppose this was also the reason why you made this decision (just my opinion of course).

I'm not sure if i got it right. Who is "one"? The guy that just took over the car, will be replaced in the box, if he reconnects?

afaik they only get 1 full lap if they really did 1 full lap. the problem was that the lap after the bug wasn't counted right. correct me if i'm wrong.

Player A is in the 2nd sector and calls in his teammate (player B).
Player B connects and sees graphic glitches (cars flying, track not rendered correctly, etc.). This means there will "pit stop bug", when they try to change drivers.
Player B has to disconnect and reconnect again before the driver change (graphics should look OK after reconnecting).

edit:
inCogNito> Yes, that is correct. (bug teleports the car over the finish line and that lap isn't counted).
Thx Rumiko !
What happens is this:

Player A is driving on lap 200
Player B connects as Player A is in the second split
Player A goes into the pit (still on lap 200)
Player B takes over, and gets teleported to somewhere in the second split. The ingame tracker goes to 201
Player B starts to drive, and as he crosses the line for the first time, the counter stays on 201. This it the moment our tracker will get a message 'driver B crossed the line', and then our tracker will also go to 201.
So all that is lost is the distance from 2nd split to the line. That is not a full lap, so will not be counted as such.

If we did this, this wouldn't really help. As soon as a team is a lap down or up, it only makes a difference for cars within the same lap. You can't say that due to the added or subtracted times it changes the lap count because you never really know what would have happened, if...

So we can only say: a completed lap is what counts. This might be hard at times but overall, it is the only way that is fair.
To be exact, the points where players' cars appear after taking over are the joins of the big track Aston GP configuration and National. In our case it happened at the first "intersection", see the attached screenshot from my replay. And some other teams got teleported to the other intersection, the one just after 2nd split.

PS don't be confused by the lap info in my screenshot, those were for some other car. I'm just showing the spot where the car gets teleported.

The place where the car gets teleported to is the place where the car was when the substitute driver joined the server. Or at least somewhere near.
