so im looking at servers to get one for at least a year, people are looking to give me something for christmas and i have decided to try and get a server for my team "Team KA" and i am just wondering what options i have out there, i know there is 500servers which i am looking at but are they any other options out there

they are not the only option but for most people, the best option... and at a great price too i think for a year with 30% discount

yeah what are the others i just want to see what's around

HPR and LFS Hosting also offer servers commercially, however i've seen nothing special from these companies that would tempt me away from Franky500 if i wanted a server.

500servers also offer TeamSpeak, the server panel, an FTP section and web-hosting...

Whats the bandwidth on the web-hosting? I'd be wary of keeping it all in one place because you can get some cracking deals on web-hosting i don't think Franky could match.

do they well 500servers is cheaper in the long run, so this is for a normal server they offer ftp and teamspeak, or do i have to pay extra for those services?

just to note i know of HPR Network and liveforspeed.fr still being active (i assume...) LFS Hosting seemed to disappear and i have no idea if they are still active.

• FTP (i cant see any reason why any company would charge for this but....)
  
• Free Server Name (i assume thats basically saying you dont have to pay extra to remove branding.... 500servers has no name branding)

Teamspeak is charged extra, at 10pence per slot.
Webspace i'm sure i can sort some out for you, but as JakG sais, there are some great deals on webspace these days, i could never match them.

Normally if somebody aproaches me and wants webspace with their server i'll happily sort them out with 200 - 500mb space and 1000 - 3000 MB bandwidth, Dependent on what their needs are.

Other companies (not those mentioned, but others), are basically not as kind as you are Franky. They care more about profit than service.

Basically, you can't go wrong with 500servers.

10 slot for racers
and a 10slot teamspeak server

if i get it, i will first host a "new s2 christmas players" special

due to lack of intrest in the server i have decided not to go with the idea of a server, i am sorry with all the people that wasted their time answering my many questions

Disappeared? Well, we havent really 'appeared' as such, and even then its only been maybe 3 weeks
We're currently conducting tests before actually offering anything, as im sure you did yourself when starting, so theres a few people getting free LFS servers for the term of the tests. We dont want to start selling something if we dont know its limits and how stable it'll be etc. We get a 'free' evaluation (still gotta pay DC fee's) and a few folks get free game hosting for a while, everyones a winner.

phew, i knew this hosting lark was pretty demanding, but i was a little worried if people felt we'd appeared and disappeared within ~3wks and hadnt even officially open the doors as such hehe.

i bought a server from 500servers yesterday and i wasn't disappointed, the web admin panel is well set out (which i know isn't made by 500 servers but that doesn't matter)

so i setup the lfs server with the handy config creater (basicly a page with drop down boxes but it makes it easier for people like me who just want to do it without going through txt documents)

but i had some trouble with the teamspeak server, lodged a support ticket hoping to get a responce in the next week and went to bed

i woke up to find that one had been posted 10 minutes after i questioned them, to cut a story short with in 2 hours the problem was resolved

and that's fine for people in the uk, but remember i did it 1:00pm my time which made it 2am uk time. so i must say 500 servers is fast and damm helpful at all times

that's one thing i can say about stoney and franky. they are 110% committed to their customers. and if there is a problem, they DO sort it out ASAP. i think the reason 500 servers is so good is because franky (and stoney) are also racers so they know what racers would want in a server.
