Duke Nukem Forever

I'll believe it when I see it.
Postponing a title as much as DNF can only result in disappointment imo.
It's been like, what, 10 years?

Yes, I think it was 96-97 when they started to talk about it.
Well, they got the abbreviation correct...

Duke Nukem Forever = DNF
Did Not Finish = DNF

Mr. Nukem never really done anything for me. The onlt thing I remember is on as old PS1 game, you could go into the strip club if you shot the doorman then you could see boobies!
April Fools came a bit early didn't it? Will wait and see if something more solid appears. At least they couldn't ask for more publicity, and they've had long enough to get the game perfect.
Agree, looked the teaser movie today, and I have to say - I`m not impressed. Graphics seems to be ok, but not more than o.k. The voice is horrible, it sounds like a 17 year old kid trying to be reeaaaal serioussssly mean. Overal, 10 years of crap for your enjoyment.
Duke Nukem Never.
Duke Nukem ForNever

The trailer looks decent though...if a game turns up then I'll be sure to play it.
Quote from deggis :3DRealms site is somehow not so fast...

The teaser trailer that was released today:

What do I need to play the video, MPC and Quicktime are both stuttery.

Huh, that IS the dukes voice, the very same that's also used in Duke 3D. So it's fitting

It's the same actor, yes, but it doesn't quite have the same flair to it does it? Hopefully it's just a quick line recorded for the teaser, and the other stuff is better. Furthermore; My god that line was corny! Poopie jokes! Teehee.

Graphically it looks good, but not really spectacular. It has all the usual features; per-pixel lighting, normal maps, soft shadows and what looked like volumetric lights/shadows, but the models look very low-poly compared to say Crysis and UT3. The Duke animations also looked rather strange and unreal. This may be because this was something a few employees put together after hours, but it still looked sub-par compared to other games out now.

Overall I'm underwhelmed really... Still great to finally see something though. The first time I saw a trailer for it I was still in elementary school for crying out loud!

A bigger CPU, I'm afraid...
It's H.264/AVC 1280*720 so it needs a fast CPU.

EDIT:
Oh well Deggis already mentionned it.

Yes it's the voice of Jon St. John
He's just ten years older

Attached file contains some samples from the original game.
Come, get some!

Anyway I'll believe Duke Nukem Forever is out when I'll see it.
For now we only have a new wallpaper and 40 seconds of animation which are supposed to be from a supposed existing game.
And they already did that some years ago... Piece of cake!

I'm one of those who have waited for this moment for so long.
Meanwhile I have grown a beard and lost some hair, and I have a larger waist. I guess most Duke Nukem die hard fans will look like Santa Claus by the day it really comes to the shelves.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I am all out of gum!

Certainly it looks promising, I can't wait for more official news.

Still don't get why it took so long after the original duke 3d for them to make a sequel.
It's quite funny really. I was playing DN3D Atomic Edition before I was old enough to legally buy it (the PC version was an 18 back then). And that was roughly when they announced DNF. Now I'm 27. Scary thought.

I've said it already though - it's a Duke Nukem game. It doesn't need to be the best looking game around, it doesn't need to be all that original in the storyline department, it just needs to keep up the humour and being a complete parody of itself that DN3D was. It's about shooting aliens because you can, not because of some deeper reason. If they can avoid just porting the same jokes and comments from DN3D and keep up the standard, it'll be worth the wait. Nearly.

3D Realms are saying there's a gameplay movie coming soon, so that'll really be the one to watch for. Rendered sequences are all well and good, but they don't tell you much. And quite what their definition of "soon" is now, is anyone's guess.
Quote from deggis :It's HD video, which is heavy but shouldn't be a problem for any modern processor...? If you have ancient processor like my Athlon XP, try CoreAVC, it's the lightest and fastest H.264 codec - but it's not free...

Erm.. an E6750 should be enough shouldn't it?

I wonder if I've got some dodgey codecs, the new computer won't play DVDs properly either.
I didn't know you can make a trailer before you make the game.

But I must say they are marketing geniouses.

It's a teaser, not a trailer, and I'm sure they are mostly finishing up at this point. They wouldn't start a media hype again without being damn sure they could finish it.

Yes a E6750 is enough.

Try with VLC which is using its own built-in codecs so it won't mess in any way with your configuration.
Get the 7Zip of the ZIP package, uncompress and run.

VLC can play both files (MOV and WMV) without any problem.
So if you still experience troubles then there is something wrong with your system configuration.

I'm not sure about that.

That's where switching graphics engines every 6 months or so and starting over multiple times will get you.
