Actually it was only one engine switch (Quake 2 to Unreal tech, keeping content) and one restart (in 2004 IIRQ) where they dropped everything and started again. Not sure how much of the engine survived the restart but I suspect at least the renderer was updated. They did switch physics engine rather recently though, but that doesn't really have any impact on the game as such. It's just a matter of hooking it up to the existing system and off it goes.
Duke Nukem was the first FPS I ever played on my first PC. It even had serial link & was the reason for the first Lan party I ever went to.
Those were the days .
I'm keeping an open mind, although its very tempting to assume it will be a pile of toss. Have faith.

One thing I will say is that after all the hype and decades (haha, 'decades' ) of development its going to have to be an absolutely *phenomenal* game in order for 3DRealms to get any of their credibility back.
Quote from Lotesdelere :Yes a E6750 is enough.

Try with VLC which is using its own built-in codecs so it won't mess in any way with your configuration.
Get the 7Zip of the ZIP package, uncompress and run.

Worked fine in VLC, as do DVDs

Pretty disappointing teaser though, just like the 3d rendered pics and vids from PS1 times.
The original was known for its more 'mature' themes... strippers in clubs, blood and gore ramped up, etc... swearing? It wasn't Mario Bros. Still, I look back and can only appreciate how stupid and childish that game was. If this new game ever makes it, I'm sure we'll all be reminded pretty quickly just what the Duke stands for, and it's not good.
If that's the same voice actor, then he needs to try a LOT harder to get into character. He sounds... silly... this time, rather than serious with a hint of comedy. The 17 year old impersonator is actually what it sounds like.

Personally, I think I'll be wowed by S3 before DNF arrives...

Yup, something like that. At least once they have started from a clean desk.

Still remember the E3 trailer from 2001 and the first screenshots?

People always wonder how the hell they have money do it this long... remember that 3D Realms made shit load of money with both Max Paynes and it's very independent, at least not yet hooked up with any publisher, so they simply can enforce their own schedule.
By the way, if anyone wants to get some flashbacks, I recommend:

Duke Nukem 3D High Resolution Pack

Name is a bit misleading, you can play it with new 3D models with totally recoded graphics engine, or you can play it with low resolution with as crappy graphics as the original one had back in '96 I got more kicks from the original graphics.

It's very simple one-in-all install and perfectly playable in modern Windows with mouse support because it's recoded so you don't need any emulators... Altough you need DUKE3D.GRP file from the shareware demo (or from original cd-roms if you have them). The installer asks for this file automatically.
Damn, I need to find my old Duke3D disc. No idea where that is now. Will have to go hunting.
