Curb Sounds
Hi,

I miss the sounds when you're driving over some curbs.. well, maybe you can hear some small noise.. but it's not enough. (in my opinion)

I think it gives a more intenser race experience when you can hear the curbs when you drive over it.. (like GTR, Rfactor, I know this is LFS but anyway..)

What do they think...

sry for bad english
If you had searched, you see that LFS kerbs are pretty flat, and wouldn't make a great deal of noise in real life. This is so that the tracks are reversible without generating new kerbs for each direction/layout.

However, I would agree that when (if) LFS gets more aggressive kerbs, either because an environment isn't reversible, or because Scawen/Eric make the kerbs automatically reverse, then they should make a noise.

And in real life, rather than making it more intense, it just makes you worry about rod ends and electrical connectors
To be honest, I wouldn't exactly call "LFS kerbs" flat. There are some places where they are flat, but also others where they look flat but really aren't. Sure, they're still no sawtooth kerbs, but they have a considerable amount of zig-zagging in them. If LFS had tyre/suspension impact sounds that would be a lot more noticeable, though. However, I'm putting emphasis on a general implementation of impact sounds, not canned rumble strip sounds.

Separate kerb sounds get a big -1 from me, but a generic tyre impact sound simulation (which would add physically correct rumbling to the kerbs) would be very welcome

+1 from me

The way it's now my DFP makes more sound than the tyres.
they would make a good bit of noise

When I hit the ones on the high way on the side of the road they make tons of noise

they are just like ground down valleys, no raised spots at all.
Even in a unmuffled race car, hitting rumble strips are frighteningly loud (and tingly on the back side).

To me, LFS sounds alright, but there are many more noises that occure on track that add to the experience. For instance, have a look and listen to this video: http://media.putfile.com/couple-of-laps-around-Summit-Point This video comes from my father's track videos. He has a few more from last season in his Putfile account. Listen for the kinds of things that LFS misses. Things like little stones and rubber bits hitting the underside of the car, curbs, and bumps. For reference, the mic is behind the driver's seat, tied to the roll bar. By the way, we do all wear a helmet and SFI rated gloves while racing online, right?

+1 for moar sounds of course
That's what I keep saying, it isn't.. the sounds so much that LFS is bad at, it is the lack of number of sounds, is where LFS gets a big fat F.

And your ribs. Oh yes, I've heard the stories.

Do we actually have a track with aggressive (if any) rumble strips though?

There are a few places in the game where my Momo shakes while hitting strips on track out.

I could think of a few places that could use more agressive curbs. Aston, Fern Bay, and Blackwood could use them, for example.
