After getting a notification of the availability of patch Y I decided to install LFS S2 on my new computer (I drove it in the past but never bothered installing it on my new system). Anyway, I entered all registration information but no matter what I do I keep getting the error: ConnectToMaster: Error opening socket. I have turned off the firewall, to make sure that is not the problem. I'm running Vista and would like to try out the new version, but I cannot figure out why it won't register. Any help?

same, i am getting the same problem, turned of firewall and everything , although mine says error connecting to the master server.

Tried again today and now it works!

I did not change anything, except for rebooting my system. So either that server was down or overloaded yesterday, or somehow the Vista firewall does not completely update its settings without a reboot.
