Whats the objective?
Cant understand LFS, shouldn't there be some kind of licenses to make the game rewarding? or is it basically just trying to get fastest lap times?

I just think there should be some sort of structure, like you have to earn credits to afford to take a license and if you pass, you open the next level cars.. i dont know, just can see it gettin a little boring as it is.

should this be in suggestions section?

P.S what the hell are credits for anyway?

(better make this clear im not flaming the game at all, i think its amazingly realistic and its the best racing game ive played, i was just wondering)
it's about online racing and winning races against other people. There is no better reward
True lol, think there should be a league/ladder for teams though? otherwise why have a team?
There are lots of leagues that teams participate in.
Funny how things work, GTL got royally flamed for having a "purpose" i.e. the career mode, now someone can't understand the open ended nature of LFS.

Well, I like both routes TBH, but LFS is purely about racing, be that online, or trying to beat your own offline hotlap records.

Its as pure as they come, it doesnt NEED any structure, thats not what LFS is about, LFS is about racing in its purest form.

If you find that in anyway "boring", then maybe LFS isnt for you?, maybe try something like GT4, heck even GTL, that has a career.

Credits are there for historical purposes, they used to be used to unlock cars, but since S2 that has become extinct.

Dan,
Think LFS should provide 1 so everyone uses the same one, whats the most popular 1?
10,000 people :0 i've never seen more than 800 players online at a time..

thanks for list of leagues
there are thousands of LFS licences. even a league with more than 30 people takes up a whole lot of time for the organisers.
i use to use a ladder that after each battle (ghost recon) the winner would enter how many kills per player, what maps they played and the losing team would have 2 days to confirm? so admins had little to do with keeping it organised
And if 'LFS' ran it's own league, don't you think LFS's development would suffer. Also, the quick guys would win this 'one-for-all' league, and the slower guys wouldn't stand a chance. Is that what you want, cos thats what'll happen
ladder systems dont work in LFS, we've had them before and people just get bored. there is also no such thing as ladder competition in real life motorsport so people prefere a structured championship with a clear start and finish.
and ther is a ladder system in lfs ... we have the hotlap charts ... the most wrs chart ... the nutter charts (ok all of them are hotlap centered but still there is a ladder system)

and personaly i love the no licenses way of lfs ... no hassle to get online just extracting the game and youre good to go ... no tedious unlocking of the cars

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

Please don't suggest that the rest of us be forced to use cars we don't like just to unlock the cars we DO like. This is the same thing that SimBin tried to do with GT Legends and it blew up in their face. Most of us don't like paying for a game and then being told which portions of the game we're allowed to actually play.

If you want some sort of reward system, try this:
Run the UF1000 on Blackwood. Do not run any other car or any other track until you can get within 2 seconds of the world record. Once you can do that move up to the GTI and do the same. You should be unlocking the GTR cars by about the year 2012. Until then, I'll happily go on driving the FOX, GTT, FZR, etc.
Well, having some trophies and leagues inside LFS could be actually fun if the AI was competitive, fair and fast enough. Like some kind of series like Gran Turismo has, a league for every car/class. Championships and stuff like that. At least people would learn more tracks than blackwood, oval and aston national..

yea i agree, if i pay for a game i dont wanna have to "earn" the right to use all the content! when i bought my license i earned the right!! the objective of the game, imo, is to have as much fun as possible while racing with people from all over the word! what more could u ask for??!!?

Also, one ladder alone wouldn't do the great variety in LfS much justice... Also, some leagues specialize in a car class or in a track... With just one ladder, you would be forced to race all cars, although you maybe don't like half of them...

For rewards: Just go online and race some races... You may win some, you may lose some in the last corner, you may have great battles with other drivers over SEVERAL laps... THAT'S the spirit of LfS, the great excitement of racing... Not just some rewards you get which give you nothing...

Reason being is, this is NOT a "game". This is an online racing "Simulator". Take it like this. You go to the track to race with your buddies. You can bring any car you have in your garage to the track. It is all for fun. If you do this in real life, you don't have to drive your pickup truck and win with it to be allowed to race your buddies in your Miata. You just take the Miata if you want. Or the truck if you want too. Now, if someone at your track creates a league, then you can join it and have to use your Miata if that's what the league requires. But you don't have to join the league if you don't want to. Just go to the track with your buddies any time you want to. League racing is just more organized. In LFS, you just have the same set of cars in your garage as everyone else. Race whatever you want. If it's not allowed, change and go somewhere else that does allow it. A career/licensing mode is ok in singleplayer offline as long as it is OPTIONAL and not MANDATORY to use the program you paid for. If it was mandatory, then the simulation starts to disappear and it turns into a game. The point of LFS is it is an ONLINE racing SIMULATOR. Meaning it is simulating racing online and the dev's are not worried (at the moment) on gameplay and offline extras. I don't want to play a game, I just want to race my buddies. Hopefully, everyone I've met in LFS would accept me as a buddy .
I agree with mrodgers...
What's the objective?? The objective is to find your maximum(which is not possible ) and have fun with various people around the world...
Again, to me, and others, this is not a game, i don't want some unlocking system, or like gold medals if i beat some time.. I want it to be pure, as pure can be..
I think the objective here is much like that of RL racing: find your limit and see how it matches up the limits of your fellow racers. As it's primarily an online racing simluator, you won't find much single-player game-ish "mission/reward" stuff in LFS, or any decent race sim (imho). Maybe when the AI gets an improvement in the "I" department there could be some added offline content, but I'm just speculating..
Also, being able to race a set league season with the AI like in NR2003 would be all I expect in ANY racing simulation (once the AI is fixed up right).
Drop by the Clean Racers Club if you have a moment, we have 3 running leagues at the moment, with a 4th in development. Always fun clean racing there, well we try anyway.

lfs is a racing simulator... you can join whatever league you like, you can hotlap, or you can race casually... do you really need the game to tell you what to do???
