Random connection drops?
So whats up with this? I can be having a great race, look down to the left corner and notice the lag bar going up. Yet there is NO lag, everyone is still racing, and chatting, but the bar still goes up. Eventually after a few seconds you get the lost connection to server. I get this randomly, I can be playing for 5 mins and it will drop, or an hour and it drops. Sometimes it stays connected the whole time which is nice.

Now before you say its a problem with my pc or my network.. I HIGHLY doubt it is. Any other online game I play never has a connection problem at all. Not even a ping spike.

It's really odd because the cars stay on screen, you can keep racing with them. Also send a message and get an instant reply...

Could be problems at the server end. I know we had our share of network lag last night, for sure. Before drawing any conclusions, it's worth moving around a few servers to see if the problem is the game, the server or your own connection. Triangulate
does it on every server eventually.

Moved thread from general LFS discussion to technical assistance where it won't get swamped by patch Y hysteria.

common guys... my LFS is feeling neglected.

Quote from ussbeethoven :Yes, it can sometimes occur on my machine, too. I don't know why, but I'm always curious when lag bar rise for no apart reason or I got a sudden disconnect (no lag, cars/chat running properly...).

Could the sudden DC be you being kicked?

Quote from Roadie :I get kicked for joining every server? lmao

It could happen...

or not.. Getting kicked doesnt make the lag bar go up.
This has happened to me for quite a long time. I think it's my ISPs traffic shaping.
We share similar problems over here!
But it affects all players at a time.

I spent alot time with network debugging. And the
result is always the same. The server is running perfectly.
I can even work via rdp on the server. I set up
a continous ping off the server and watched the task-monitor when
such a lag-spike occured. Absoluteley nothing. No cpu time
changes , no networking problems during the lag.

Wich leads me to the only conclusion:
The server application is fault-prone / buggy / unstable whatever.

PS. Additional problem wich i never experienced prior to ptach Y:
If you edit a layout a couple of minutes with other players online, the displayed
latenty increases by time. The techical latency is perfect , its just the game
wich gets more and more out of sync. After 5 mins editing you most probably
have a displayed latency above 1 second.

Cmon Scawen. Bring some light into the darkness of LFS networking.
