Wow at this rate guys, you might need to run 2 servers for the Open Wheel championship.
Well after experiencing 30 racers at SO6 in the FBM I think it would be a good idea to run no more than say 20 racers per server. So if we get say 40 racers that would be 20 in 2 servers or if we get 50 it would be either 25 in 2 servers or 17 17 16 in 3 servers.. etc..

Well I don't think 30 cars on a wide track such as Aston or Blackwood would cause too many problems, it's just the nature of South City in that it just cannot competitively house 30 drivers all trying to learn a new car.
I think it is the first corner that causes the most problems. Blackwood is tough in this respect. If you could start the race on lap 2 (if you see what I mean) then South City would be fine.

something like a one lap caution lap, and then single file start?

Well I'm thinking that for wide tracks a full field shoudn't be a problem but 32 racers on South City is suicide IMO.

Ridiculous IMO.

If people can't have a clean start with other cars around them they shouldn't join leagues.
Agreed! Races will start in the normal way. All I'm trying to do is make sure that small tracks don't have too many racers in them. If anyone here has tried redline's so6 combo with 32 racers you will know exactly what I mean. It's not even just the start. You can be on the last lap and some backmarker hits a wall, spins, lag doesn't allow him to shift s quick enough and its race over for the 5 leading racers. The track is simply not wide enough for 32 cars IMO... Another point is that in South City with 32 cars most people get about 10-15 fps at the start, which means you lose all FFB and control in the 1st couple of corners, which in my experience causes the most crashes..
Please be aware that we will have a SR league section on our website soon so when the league starts we will be using that for discussions rather than here. Stats, replays, tables etc will all be on our website aswell. Also, when we have set it up, we will need your email addresses so we can mail you the passwords for the events. You don't need to do anything yet and I will give everyone plenty of notice of what you need to do nearer the time.

All race starts are chaotic in pick-up races, but I wouldn't have thought a 'proper' league need worry itself about such matters. Of course there might be a few wreaks from time to time, but that's just racing, and if you never mess up then you aren't trying hard enough.
It's more of a lag issue than an idiot driver issue, especially when a couple of drivers get together and the physics calcs start going through the roof.

It is better in league races than pickup. I was on redline when the FBM came out and racing down to T1 at SO I would slow down to avoid hitting anyone in front then wait for someone to cream into the back of me, which they duly did. Every race.

Erm, will we be having any teamspeak channels during the league?

Would be useless any way. I don't have a mic and can't find one any where!
