Headtracking using Wiimote
This is one of the most seriously awesome ideas I've seen in a long time. It's like a €20 Track IR. Would something like that work in LFS if we could get it to expose normal DirectInput axes? There's apparently source code available, so it shouldn't be too hard to do.
This needs to be done! You could put the Wiimote in your mouth, no hassle with stupid hats or duct tape.

EDIT: Does anyone else hear the striking similarities between the author's voice and Timmy from South Park?

Looked cool, but it's still in a nerdy state, so it's not going to be mainstream any time soon, they'd need to make the remotes and the wiimotes (correct?) as small as earplugs or even smaller. As much as i hate the way they promote Wii, it's still pretty interesting to think about, but to really use it at home, I'd need to lock my door and get some steel curtains to do it comfortably, it's just something about going around your house waving your hands around that gives me the creeps.

Btw, in theory, would it be possible to make it work for more than one person if the TV set had more than one remotes attached to it, i can't imagine the scene right now so some wii owners could enlighten me on this.

Who cares about mainstream? I care about me. Seemed like it worked very well for a home build though.

How would you get the screen to display two different viewpoints at the same time? You could average the two positions to approximate I guess, but that would ruin the entire illusion.
Thats awesome! Definatly should be the next-gen addition to consoles.

Hmm, now that I think about it that wouldn't quite work, would it? In LFS can only modify the position/rotation of the viewport, but for this to work you would probably need to tweak the projection matrix as well to get the illusion of peering through a window. Gah, I need to go study the code.

EDIT: Yep, the head position needs to be baked into the projection matrix. Anyone know if that is doable in LFS? Perhaps through a D3D8 proxy or something?

if anybody needs a lfs-wiimote betatester i'm right here waiting for you

edit: my gf would probably not be too happy about a missing wiimote but hey if you don't tell her how will she ever know who stole it ^^
