You should use a different colour than black as your background, makes the cars look very dark. Other than that, your renders are coming along nicely.

Because the rims and tyres are not smoothed.
Select, the wheels, in edit menu ("F9") not edit mode! press "Set Smooth" button.

I hope you meant an open top as in an open roof. I've just started making a XRT Targa top (I know it's been done a few times already) and now rendering it with your skin on it. Be done in 20 minutes.
