Does LFS have native Widescreen Support?
Just recently got a 21" widescreen LCD, and upon launching the game, I didn't seem to notice any resolutions that are natively widescreen. Does this mean I'll have to pick a current resolution and tweak the FOV until it gives a fake widescreen appearance, or is there something I'm missing?

Running the screen at 1440x900 on the desktop, but it can max at 1680x1050 if I recall...

Thanks for any input

LFS has the option "show non square modes" in the resolution-selection. Maybe you want to tinker around with it.

Haha! Thanks for the quick reply

Now to check it out!
LFS supports 1440x900 just go to options / screen ,and click show non square modes scroll down and it should be there .

SD.

EDIT : Too slow again

Aye, got it all working now. I guess I just didn't know what to make of something called "show non-square modes", as I'm used to seeing an option like that's maybe called "Widescreen Resolutions" or whatever.

Either way, thanks people for the help, now I can enjoy LFS in the way it was meant to be, with more than I can see :P

Yeah there is some terminology in the game that not many people are familiar with. There are other options that you will probably have no clue about whatsoever, but expirement with them. Someone also was making a list of what each part does here in this thread: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=3186
After reading this thread I did a comparison between a laptop with a widescreen lcd and a desktop with a 4x3 CRT. If the desktop is set to something like 1280x1024 and the laptop is set to 1280x768 the laptop is sacrificing vertical resolution in order to keep the graphics proportional on a widescreen display.

So is it safe to say that you’re not seeing any more horizontal information with a widescreen display? That in fact you're seeing less?

What you describe is the correct way of keeping the FOV to the value you set. If you want more horizontal information you need to increase the FOV. Details here:
